Google.co.in Promotion

Different page ranking in google.com and google.co.in

For a particular search term, my website / blog shows in the top 5 (in the 1st page itself) on Google.com

But on google.co.in, it shows in 5th-6th page.

How can I optimize or promote my blog on google.co.in as well ?

I thought google.com is tougher, but actually my site is doing quite well in google.com.

How does google search logic differ in case of .com and .co.in?

How does google search logic differ in case of .com and .co.in?

A site with links from india will get better ranking on .co.in, while a site with links from American sites will rank better on .com

In fact I think it may be a little more complex than that, links from a site hosted in the US but with a lot of indian traffic/indian language content will most likely affect the indian ranking more.

Also its very likely that the US/IN google ranking indexes are updated on a different schedule.

Response by poster: But my site anyway does not have too many links inward.

Any tips to improve the ranking in .co.in ?

Are there just more *competitors* for your search term in India (and using .co.in)?

Are you using long tail search terms? I'm not an SEO person (though I've worked with some) so can't give a long rundown but to my understanding it's important to target the less popular search terms. Probably particularly so if your popular search terms are *very* popular and competition for those searchers is high. Something like this article reckons...

By the same principle, are you individualising your keywords etc on each individual page of your site, rather than just repeating the same ones over and over? To my understanding, if each page has different content, having your SEO strategy consider these individually - ie having SEO that's very specific to the content of each page - is good for both you and the searcher who's looking for something that's on that one page of your site. If they find what they want right away, they're going to hold your entire site in higher esteem.
