Since time travel just isn't an option. Help me live in 1974, sartorially at least.

Anyone know a good, relatively inexpensive tailor in Sydney who can duplicate a fabulous vintage dress for me?
I have this terrific vintage dress that I wish I could wear every single day. It's a one-off, which looks to have been handmade in the first place, probably in the Seventies. What I would like is several copies made with my own supplied fabric. I would prefer that this exercise not cost a fortune.
I would love to take it to tailors in Vietnam, but the travel just isn't on the cards right now, so the tailor must be in Sydney, or at least Australia and able to ship.
Any ideas, handy Mefites?

Best answer: I can recommend Jenny's Alterations at 323 Glebe Point Road, Glebe, ph 9552 1078.
She did a great job of my bridesmaid's dress. I supplied a paper pattern for that, but I know she also makes copies from existing clothes. Ask her to make a pattern from your dress, so you don't need to tear the dress apart each time you want a new one.

If it's handmade, chances are good that the pattern already exists? Obviously I haven't seen it, but I imagine it might well be worth posting some pics of the dress to see if anyone can ID it (from their vintage pattern collections). Definitely try your luck with this on Craftster.
Finding the original pattern would save you such a lot of money. (Like seriously.)

I agree with mua~ha~ha~ha~har - A Dress a Day is another person who might be able to help you. For instance, if you give her the permission to post the pictures in her blog, a reader might be able to identify the pattern.
