Lost my Brazilian Entrance Form

I´ve managed to lose my Brazilian tourist immigration card (Cartao de Entrada, i think). It´s two white forms stapled together, which was stamped along with my passport when i entered Brazil at Foz de Iguassu border. What should I expect when I fly out of Rio de Janeiro intenational airport next week? What can I do to sort this problem out?

I should imagine it's a fairly common problem, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. You're probably going to have to pay a small fine, but the best way to find out for sure is by speaking to someone at the Policia Federal. Find out where the closest delegacia is to you and go pay them a visit. They will probably get you to fill out some forms then issue you with fine which, in true Brazilian fashion, you'll have to take to a bank, pay, and then return to the police.

I've had this happen before in other countries (although not in Brazil). Usually you can just fill a new one one out at the passport control at the airport, no big deal. YMMV, but in my personal experience it hasn't been a problem.

I once lost that very form in Brazil. I just feigned ignorance and the guy waved me through, obviously tired of another know-nothing American.

Don't know if I'd recommend this tactic, but it did work, and, yeah, I don't think this is an uncommon occurrence.

This has happened to several of our visitors. It's never been a problem. Just tell them you lost it. (Usually our visitors are leaving through São Paulo but Rio shouldn't be any different.)
