Can you recommend a dentist in or around Astoria Queens?

I live in Astoria but I can always take the train into Manhattan.

I don't have dental insurance so I'd prefer someone who isn't too pricey but that's not my primary concern.

I'm looking for a friendly dentist. I haven't been in a few years and while I don't have any pain, I wouldn't be shocked if I have some cavities, I'm afraid I've ground down a tooth, etc. so I'm probably looking a multiple visit situation and while I don't really mind going to the dentist, I do feel guilty about how long it's been and don't want to be scolded by some I'm-gonna-be-mean-to-you-for-your-own-sake dentist.

Love Family Dental is where I went for my first appointment in awhile about a year ago, and they were very nice.

I used to go to Astoria Dental Group (warning: awful website) when I lived in Queens, and was satisfied. I overheard more than one conversation where they were working out payment plans with people who didn't have insurance.

if you can get to greenpoint (they're right off the g), dr erin teague at norman dental center is very nice and very good, as is their periodontist dr juliana yun and all the staff members i've ever interacted with. no one scolded me for skipping a few years worth of visits, although they probably should've! they don't take insurance and so also don't charge very much, especially compared to manhattan dentists.

I love, love, love Dr. Tom at the office above the TD Bank at the Ditmars stop on the N. There are a lot of other reviews on Astorians.com.

In case anyone happens upon this thread later. A quick hop from Astoria/Sunnyside is Dr. Sinkin near Grand Central. I hate dentists, but he not only got me to laugh but also open my eyes during the procedure.
