In Dublin for the longest day...

Dear Askme-- it looks like I'm going to be at loose ends for one night in Dublin: Sunday, June 21st. Aside from a show by my countryman Neil Young, what else could I take in that evening?

I'm open to any live music (except for club scenes where everyone else there is half my age), poetry readings, performance art, theatre of the conventional or experimental kind, film, or what have you. It's the longest day of the year: perhaps just a stroll beside the Liffey? (I have been to Dublin before, but just for a couple of days, so I know my way around the city a bit.) Any suggestions happily received; offbeat ones even more so.

You might look at the calendar for Whelan's on Wexford Street, it's a good venue if the music is your style: http://www.whelanslive.com/

The Irish Film Institute in Temple Bar has more of an art house feel, you might check out what's showing there: http://www.irishfilm.ie/

Laughter Lounge is fun but can be hit or miss: http://www.laughterlounge.ie/

You could go see a play at the Abbey, Gate, or Gaiety.

Find a pub with live Irish music -- O'Donoghue's on Baggot Street and Dame Tavern on Dame Ct. are good bets.

Have fun!
