Is it worth it to replace a Wacom Graphire stylus?

Should I bother trying to replace the stylus on my Wacom Graphire tablet?

I have the 4x5 Graphire at work and at home, and I noticed on both that even from the beginning, the stylus is a little wonky: the buttons will stick and force you to pull them out and reset them to get them working again; on occassion, the nib will stick also. Granted, this may partly be from my tight grip, but now the one I use at work (that gets far more use than my home tablet) has gotten to the point where I've had to pull out the buttons completely and it's still having major intermittant problems with the nib/eraser sticking.
But since this seems to be an issue with the stylus type, should I request that my IT department get me a replacement stylus, or should I ask for a completely upgraded tablet- like the next size up? I'm not dissatisfied with the tablet, the small size is not that big of an issue, but I don't want to have to keep dealing with the problem. The $30 for a replacement stylus seems the better deal compared to the increased cost of a more advanced system, unless I'm considering that a new stylus will also go bad- then it's $30 down the drain that could have been applied to a conceivable better system.

Anyone else with the same problem?

How long did it take for the stylus to go bad? How much do you like the tablet you have now? How willing will the IT department be to upgrade your tablet?

This is similar to having a POS car that needs work. Do you put the work into the car or put the money toward a new car? There are threads on that, with different takes on the logic involved. The question really involves unquantifiable things like your time, frustration with non-working parts, etc.

Good luck finding a replacement stylus, they're usually sold out. Had to toss my Graphire tablet and buy a Bamboo model instead.
