Best Cheesecake in Victoria, B.C.

Where can I get the best cheesecake in Victoria, B.C., to order a whole cake to take away (not to eat a slice at a restaurant)?

Bonus points for non-new york style cheesecakes, but I'm interested in new york style as well. Not particularly interested in gimicky "flavours" (like what is offered by Cheesecake 101), more interested in quality. I'll go anywhere in the Greater Victoria area, or even as far as the Cowichan Valley for something really spectacular.

Best answer: Pagliacci's makes famously good, old-school (read: plain, no silly flavours) cheesecake. They are a restaurant - and don't advertise themselves as a take-out place - but I've ordered food there for pickup and they are very flexible. I would almost bet that they'd happily make you a whole cake for pickup. Bon apetit!

Best answer: Cascadia Bakery which is owned by Rebar. They do cheesecakes whole or by the slice. I had a slice of a chocolate-hazelnut a couple years back and remember it was very good.

Seconding parkerama - you can't go wrong with cheesecake from Pagliacci's.

I don't know who supplies the Ogden Point Cafe with their cheesecakes but I've had a wicked Pumpkin Walnut cheesecake slice there. You may want to try out a slice and then see if you can order a whole one.

Seconding Pagliacci's but I'd also suggest Lighthouse Cake Company - they're in Langford, though. I've had cakes from them a few times and they've been terrific. I know a few people who've custom ordered from them and they've been happy with the results.

I know this might not be as helpful as it should be, but if you can get into Vancouver, Cheescake Etc., on fifth and Granville is the best damned cheescake I've ever had. They're open from 7pm onward though, which might add extra awkwardness. But it's good. It's so damned good.

oh man, Pagliacci's. They're really nice about special requests as long as it's not super busy.

my mouth = watering
