Recommend a Hose!

Gardening question:

I bought what I thought was a pretty good garden hose and it's already kinking up like there's no tomorrow. What's the best material/best brand?

you might as well ask what is, finally, the better mouse trap?
I can't help you with this question, but I will pose a counter query:

Do you use the pistol grip spray nozzle, or do you just pinch your thumb right on the exit hole?

I'm a thumb pincher, myself.

I don't think you can go wrong with Sears Craftsman. Several of them come with lifetime warranties. I've got one of these and I'm happy with it. It's also available in 100ft.

I agree with loc-dogg. The black Sears Craftsman hoses are the absolute best. My parents' black Sears garden hose is about 15 years old and still works just fine and isn't brittle and doesn't kink up.

I used to cover the nozzle, but someone told me I'd rupture a --

*ahem*

I have the pistol doodlebob, but it's the hose kinking that is the problem. Thanks for the Sears recommendation. I'll try it.

Flexogen hoses are the standard in high quality hoses. Every nursery I've been to has used them even thouth they aren't cheap. They are completely indestrucible and never kink or develop permanent twists or become stiff in cold weather so are worth the premium. Here are the epinion reviews. I've bought them at nursery/orchard suppliers for larger diameter and/or extra long but you can often find the more standard 5/8" at garden centers.
