Windows Media Player not saving artwork

Why doesn't the Find Info function of Windows Media Player save my artwork?
I am organizing my mp3 files (again) and one of the things I'm trying to do is get as much artwork as I can. I'm using Windows Media Player since iTunes doesn't recognize my device. (It's an iRiver Clix)
I right click on an album and select Find Info and a window pops up with all the song information and the album art, but when I click update the album art is still the grey generic "Insert Album Cover" icon.
Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?
BTW I have iTunes installed since my brother has an iPod and no computer and that does pick up the artwork (when it can find it) however when I go back to WMP after finding an album cover in iTunes it still isn't there.
