Oedipus to Attica, so what?

Attica and Oedipus Rex. Their story. Help me.

I've been tasked to describe the role the city of Attica plays in the greek tragedy Oedipus Rex. I'm supposed to speak for about 5 minutes. How do I fill this time?

I know that Oedipus was either exiled by his sons or asked to be exiled to Attica.

I know its geographical relation to Thebes.

Other than this somewhat peripheral role, what more can be said of Attica?

Colonus is in Attica. Sophocles wrote a play called "Oedipus at Colonus." The contents of that play should give you at least five minutes.

Is this homework?

Best answer: Wikipedia has a summary of that play.

Attica is not a city. It is a region whose main city is Athens. Boeotia has a similar relation to Thebes.

How is this not HomeworkFilter?
