Guaraberas in Miami

Where can I get good quality, authentic guayabera shirts in Miami?

I have some great Reyn Spooner vintage Hawaiian shirts and am looking for similar quality in a guayabera. I am only in Miami for 2 days and want to spend as little time "shopping" as possible ... so your tips will be appreciated.

The The Guayaberashirt Company has three locations in and around Miami. Click the store locator.

Which part of Miami will you be in?

My experience is that many places have guayaberas for sale. Not hard to find, especially if you're in touristy places. They've all seemed about the same to me... touristy areas vs. small out of the way stores.

Great shirts. There's a reason they're so popular. Get at least one black one and you've got the perfect casual "going out" outfit for summer nights.

Sorry, but,

By out of the way, I mean something like the Calle Ocho arera. There's dozens of places selling clothes there. Look for brightly lit fluorescent light places, and the shirts will all be in plastic bags.

By the way, I can't exaggerate how over-hyped calle ocho is. Go once and you'll see. Lame.

Best answer: Thanks for the tips. I was in MIA last weekedm found a shop in Coral Gables on Miracle Mile called Guayaberas, Etc. that had a real nice selection, and I bought 2.

valsan is a cheap chain that has 100% linen guayaberas all over though I remember seeing them like only in hialeah, allapattah, etc. Not really sure what calle ocho is hyped as? There are good places for guayaberas all around little havana and allapattah (as well as hialeah of course). Allapattah has a clothing district along 20th st. The most famous shop is la casa de guayaberas where the old guy is a master tailor and will do them custom and the like.
