Questions on a refurbished iPhone.

Att now has refurbished 8g phones for 99.00. I think I'm finally ready to make the plunge. But I have a couple of questions. And yes, I did go by an ATT store to ask a sales rep, but they seemed wishy-washy on the details.

The 99 dollar refurbished phone comes with a 30 day warranty. If the phone breaks after that, can I buy a new one for the subsidized price? 199 for the new 8g? Or will i have to pay more?

If I drop my phone and it breaks will I be able to buy a new one under the subsidized price? Or again, will it be the price you pay without a contract.

And lastly, I'm pretty sure this version is all I need. But if apple comes out with a new iPhone that does time travel next month, can I buy one under the subsidized price or will I have to wait until my contract ends?

Sorry for my cluelessness, but I've only ever bought the cheapest phone I can get, so this is new for me.

I'm not sure but I doubt you could buy another for the subsidized price. Also, if you break the glass on a 3g it's actually pretty easy/cheap to replace. I'd go for the 16gb because my 8gb is far too small.

Best answer: If you break it and buy another, you'll have to pay the unsubsidized price if you're still in contract (two years from purchase date).

I think the 30 day warranty is from AT&T, and Apple gives you a one year warranty from the initial purchase date (not yours), according to this link [Arstechnica].

When you get yours, check and make sure every single feature on it works and check for cracks in the back around the ringer switch and camera. AT&T doesn't do anything to refurbish these phones other than reset them (they're not authorized to repair anything). My AT&T refurb didn't have Bluetooth working, so I ran over to the Apple store and got a replacement.
