I'm absolutely fascinated by Karl Rove. Where can I learn more about him?

I flipped past a documentary called Bush's Brain recently that claims to be a profile of Rove. Can't say much else about it, I didn't watch.

Bush's Brain on DVD

Response by poster: Dobbs: Thanks. Both "Boy Genius" and "Bush's Brain" are on my list of books to grab.

Gwint: Likewise, thanks. I saw The Atlantic article posted in the Blue, but don't have a subscription. I'm going to grab a copy on the way home from work tonight.

Krrrlson and Smackfu: I'm on the fence on if I want to bother with the DVD or not. Most of the reviews say it's amazingly one sided, which isn't really something that interests me. On the other hand, anything that adds to the complete picture.........

I watched this (it was on the Sundance channel just before the election.) I found it fascinating. One story involved an election-- one of Rove's first jobs-- for the state agriculture commissioner of Texas. The day of the scheduled debate, Karl Rove announced he found a bug in his office. The next day the papers carried very little information because they were too busy talking about the bug.

The FBI were called in. The resulting investigation found that the bug had a 4 hour battery-- meaning that it had to be regularly serviced by someone that had access to Rove's office. Also that the battery had been replaced 15 minutes before Rove called the press.

No charges were ever brought.

Many people were interviewed for the documentary including his ex-partner, arch enemies, and Molly Ivins. So I can see how it could be called one-sided. But still....lots of stories.
