Kewpie Mayonnaise: way better than Hellman's

Where can I buy Kewpie Japanese mayonnaise in New York City?

I tried googling it and came up with a ton of places to buy it online -- but where in New York City can I walk into a store and walk out with a bottle of this ethereal stuff? I tried Whole Foods' lame international section and Food Emporium but neither had it (and of course no one knew what I was talking about.) So where, oh where, can I find this mayonnaise? A name of a store and perhaps the nearest subway stop would be fantastic! Thanks all.

Best answer: take the n/r to 8th st—the jas mart on st mark's between 2nd and 3rd, and the sunrise mart right above st mark's bookstore on 3rd ave both always have kewpie.

Best answer: What you want is a Japanese grocery store. All those places carry it.

Several of them are in the East Village: for those, take the 6 to Astor Place or the L to Third Avenue.

I've seen it at the Brooklyn Fairway.

Others have already answered, but yeah we got some the other weekend at Sunrise mart for making okonomiyaki. They were delicious, but INCREDIBLY filling.

We used the recipie from "Cooking with dog" on youtube.

Enjoy!
