Warn before closing Gmail tab in Firefox

Is there a way to have Firefox warn me before I close a tab containing Gmail?

I use Gmail chat extensively, so it is frustrating when I accidentally close the Gmail tab in the middle of a conversation. Whenever I close a Gmail tab, I'd like a dialogue box asking me to confirm my intentions.

I use Firefox, so I'm wondering if an appropriate extension exists? Any other thoughts?

Best answer: The Tab Mix Plus extension will let you protect a tab (so that it can't be closed) and lock it (so that you can't accidentally navigate away from GMail).

Seconding Tab Mix Plus. I use it extensively at work.

If you do accidentally close a tab you wanted back (or if someone else closes it for you), shift-apple-T will bring it back for you (I assume there's a Windows equivalent, but I don't know what it is). You can find the last several closed tabs listed under history > recently closed tabs.

I assume there's a Windows equivalent

It's what you'd expect, ctrl-shift-T. I use it all the time.

You've got your answer, but you can go farther with it too:

I use a combination of PermaTab (to protect and lock the tab), Faviconize Tab (to remove the text from a specific tab, and just keep the favicon), and Gmail Favicon Alerts (a Greasmonkey script to change the color of the icon when I get an email or new chat message).

The OP doesn't specify OS, but if you're a Mac user, you want Fluid.
