Cheap ISP/Phone in Montreal

So it's time to shop around for a new ISP. I'm looking for DSL or Cable, over 5 mbps and no download limit. They should offer a normal phone line and hopefully unlimited long distance calls to Quebec, at least.

I'm currently on Cable with videotron but it's very expensive.
I know there are some lesser known companies out there that have something good and cheap to offer, help me out!
Thanks.

After having lived in Montreal for 5 years, my only advice is to avoid DSL at all costs. Not once did it work consistently. It is definitely worth the extra cost to have Cable internet. I tried DSL myself or saw other people try it no less than 7 times from different providers, and every time, it would be inconsistent at best, and not work for days at a time at worst. Cable is definitely the way to go.

I've had DSL in three apartments in Montreal, and only in one out of three was it any good. When it's good it's great, when it's bad it's terrible. I'm not saying you shouldn't try it, but be prepared to give it up within a month. My sister has been quite happy with Primus.

Cheap, no download limit and unlimited long distance? Sadly, you will not find such an ISP in montreal. Videotron is still the fastest and offers the best reliability but, as you noted, is more expensive.

There are lesser known companies (I previoulsy used radioactif) but they all use the same DSL network provided by Bell.
