Who was this comic book artist?
It's Daniel something (I think). His first major series (I think) was a 4 part mini about a gorilla.
His style is dark, with an angular sharpness and lots of deep shadows and a speckled look somewhat like Jae Lee's early work

Response by poster: Nope, not Monkeyman and O'Brien.
The story in the mini series was in Africa, with the protagonist being a mercenary.
The gorilla in the story was an old DC character, I think, who didn't didn't show up 'till the third or fourth issue and wasn't prominently featured in the story.
Artists name was Daniel Dj...somehting, maybe South African or South American. He's done other stuff in comics, did a couple issues of Capt. America too, I think.
