Help me work my breadmaker! It's a breville BR9, and I've lost the manual...

Does anyone have a manual for a Breville BR9 Breadmaker? Specifically, I'd like to know the quantities and settings for wholemeal and white loaves - nothing fancy, just bread!

I've lost the manual for my Breville BR9 Breadmaker. I used to use it all the time (so didn't need the manual), but since I've been on a bit of a health kick I haven't eaten much bread over the last year or so. But I want to bring it into service just for the seasonal calorie catastrophe that is xmas.

I thought that easy wholemeal was setting 3, and got some quantities off the internet (from this site: which has quantities for various manufacturers). However the bread this morning is not quite cooked and has not quite risen enough, so either the setting or the quantities are wrong.

My web searches for manuals come up with lots of people with the same problem but no solutions...

Check this site, I didn't see the BR9 specifically but you may find one that is close enough to get you the settings.

Response by poster: Ta for that. The ones they have give me an idea of quantities, but not of settings (the buttons seem to do something completely different in each model, which is a miracle of user interface design).

Although not a direct answer to your question, this link on what to do if you don't have a manual for your bread machine might be useful.

Best answer: Woo!

Make sure the mixing blade is fitted and place the mixing pan onto an accurate weighing scale. Weigh the ingredients into the pan in the following order:

1. Boiling water
2. Cold water
3. Vegetable oil
4. Salt
5. Strong flour
6. Bread improver
7. Freebake dried yeast

Select the appropriate programme and start the machine. After 1or 2 minutes use a plastic or wooden spatula to carefully scrape any flour clinging to the sides of the mixing pan into the mix.

At the end of the programme, remove the bread from the tin immediately, and allow to cool on a rack for at least 1 hour before slicing.

White Breads:

Machine/programme
Vegetable Oil
