I had to remote start that Honda, baby.

I want to put a remote starter in my 2007 Honda CR-V. How, what, who in Chicago and how much?

I want to put a remote starter in my 2007 Honda CR-V, which has the factory keyless entry but no security other than some sort of ignition immobilizer standard on all modern Hondas, it seems. There appear to be all kinds of different options - Google presents hundreds of sites and dozens of options, and that's before I even figure out where I want to have it installed in Chicago.

I want something simple, sweet and seamless. What brand I should use, and are there any issues with doing remote start in a 2007 CR-V? And which shop in Chicago should I have do the work for me?

I put a remote keyless entry/starter into my wife's '01 Mazda 626 a couple of years ago. It took all day (14 hours) and was pretty difficult, but I got it done and it all worked well. It was a diy kit that I bought at Sam's (like Costco) and it was made by Bulldog Security.
Maybe they could direct you to someone locally who they endorse to install their systems.

Response by poster: Should I try a place like Best Buy or Circuit city for this kind of work, or am I better off going to a local-type shop?

I want something simple, sweet and seamless.

My dad put a remote start on my mom's 97 CRV. He's a very handy and technical person. It took him a lot of work, researching wiring diagrams at the library, etc. After he said probably wouldn't do it again. If you're looking for simple I don't think a DIY remote start job is going to be it.

Most car audio shops also do this kind of work.

I should add to that: I'd talk to a couple of independent places that have been around for a while and see what they recommend.

i would recommend a car audio place. they normally already offer this service.

i would not recommend going to a chain electronics store.

which would you rather have? the audio junkie that loves his job or the teenager who couldnt give two shits about your car?
