Does anyone have experience with using PlayOn! with an HP MediaSmart Server running Windows Home Server?

I see how it works with a regular media center PC, but I'm not quite sure how it'd work in a Home Server OS environment.

It's a DLNA server like TVersity (what I use), Windows Media Player 11, Nero, and some others. I haven't tried Hulu or many of the other sites they list, but I can subscribe to YouTube feeds just fine in TVersity. If your machine is going to be a DLNA client to the machine running PlayOn, then you should be fine. If you're going to be trying to stream it to yourself (running PlayOn on the machine and also hooking the same machine up to a TV), it should be fine even if there are other possibly-better options.

Response by poster: So I'm correct that I can't run it straight from WHS? It needs to be on a second box? I knew that would be too good to be true....
