Anyone have a really good calypso suggestion for toddlers to limbo to?

Pffft - watercarrier doesn't know toddlers very well.

A lot of Sesame Street songs are really good for dancing of any kind. "Do the Rubber Duck" comes to mind.

I've also had great success with anything by Konono no.1. It's an African band that uses junked cars as percussion instruments, not kids' music per se, but lacking in any kind of lyrics which helps it lack in objectionable lyrics. I don't know if qualifies as "calypso" but I've done limbo with preschoolers and this worked out just fine.

Under the Sea from Little Mermaid? Again, not sure it's calypso per se, but it's catchy, Caribbean and good with little ones.

Harry Belafonte, of course.

Best answer: Limbo Rock? Many versions. I like this one from Under The Sea.

Harry Belafonte, of course.

Jump in the Line is especially good.

The guy who does the Musical Merry go Round on KDHX is a former ska freak who now does a kids show on Saturday mornings. Look at his playlists, or write him at the station...

Best answer: My three-year-old really likes this Limbo Album, called, appropriately, "Limbo."

i know you've already picked a best answer, but since i actually did this at a party, harry belafonte, "jump in the line" (like a limbo line) aka the shake, shake, shake, senora song from beetlejuice is soooooo fun, as seen here.

grapefruit moon - dancing the calypso, limbo, breakdance, whatever - it's the parent's shtick. It's nothing that a child would be interested left to their own devices. This is a child having to indulge a parent's desire. That's it.

I can highly recommend any album from this fun, kid-friendly steel drum band I play with. Kids love it!

Response by poster: To jrodsgirl and mikepop: I LOVE "Jump In the Line". Would've picked that answer as the fave, but I'm a lil worried it could be too frentic and fast for little ones learning what limbo is. Could be wrong, but they'll need a calmer moment by the time we get to limbo.

Re: Watercarrier "dancing the calypso, limbo, breakdance, whatever - it's the parent's shtick. It's nothing that a child would be interested left to their own devices. Mod note: comment rmoved - do NOT turn this into a limbo referendum. MeTa and email are your options from this point forward.
