Looking for a cheap, decent barber in Paris.

I've been in Paris for 5 weeks now and my hair is starting to get a bit scruffy. Back in the US, I used to go to a local barbershop or a Supercuts if I was in an unknown area. Here I'm not even sure if you have to make appointments by phone or if you can just walk in.

I'm currently in the 2nd arrondissement right down the street from Opéra. Do any of the Parisian mefi-ites have suggestions for a Paris newbie? I'm willing to travel on the métro. Bonus points if they happen to speak English!

Is is just for your hair or do you need to shave your beard also ?

If it's just for the hair:

> LIVING ROOM salon de coiffure : 22 rue des taillandiers. 75011 Paris

> Maniatis

> Phillipe Willerval

and for the beard:

> Alain Barbier

My coiffeur in Paris does not speak english but he is very friendly, with a small, one-at-a-time shop. If you go late morning on a slow day, he might even be able to take a walk-in. Aside from the métro, you can take the 68/95/81 bus to get on streets going the opposite direction of rue d'Amsterdam; taking the bus back down to the Opéra is a breeze.

Sorry, noticed during the way back to the main page that you asked for cheap. Is about €20 cheap enough? (No tip required since he is the owner.)

I moved away from Paris over 5 years ago, but I remember at the time I always got haircuts for €7 (it'll be a euro or two dearer now) in the 18th, near Metro Jules Joffrin, on the main street goin westwards from the Mairie du 18ieme.
