We're going to a wedding with my in-laws on E. 69 and Park and are looking for a good place nearby to take them for lunch. Some place classy but not too hoity-toity... and a good beer/wine selection would be a plus. Authentic Japanese, Indian, French, all responses welcome!

For something a little different, how about the cafe at the Neue Galerie.

try yelp.com, put in your zip code or address, and sort by type/recommendations. I've always gotten great eatery suggestions from yelp.

I recently had the lunch buffet at the Indian restaurant Chola and it was excellent. Great food, reasonably priced and a quiet, relaxed, casual-yet-upscale atmosphere. It seems close to where you are, but I'm not a New Yorker, so I apologize if it's not in the vicinity in which you're looking.
