Original birthday celebration ideas for 30ish-year-old in SF Bay Area?

Have a friend with a birthday in 11 days. Not looking for gift ideas, but something original/fun to do in SF or Bay Area for a group of people in their late 20s and early 30s? Could be a group of 5-10 people. Dinner & drinks are obvious, but what else? For the sake of argument, consider cost open (but not unlimited), and a weekend available. Specific or general ideas are welcome.

You can rent the Tactile Dome at the Exploratorium for private parties (contraindicated for claustrophobics, people with disabilities, hugely pregnant women, etc). It can be a ton of fun for the right people.

Paintball. It's amazingly fun to shoot your friends.

Spend the night looking at the stars! Camp out at the Robert Ferguson Observatory (near Santa Rosa) with observatory privileges and a guide.

Assuming you are all geeky and would like that sort of thing :)
