SF Bars for Election Night

S.F./Bay Area bars with election coverage and/or election night parties?

I'm thinking that I'm going to be doing a lot of celebratory drinking next Tuesday night (not to jinx anything), and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for San Francisco (or other Bay Area) bars planning election night parties or events.

I'm not positive they'll be running election coverage (with Stewart Colbert '08 doing a live show, why wouldn't they?), but this post shows places that covered the debates.

I'd give them a call. The above link also links to Obama's campeign's page.. 's.

Bissap Baobab/Bollyhood is having an election-night party -- 19th and Mission, 6pm to midnight. They're cool people and it's a fun place to hang out, election night or not -- anyway, they'll be playing the coverage on the big screen, having a special election night menu, and local VIPs (whoever they might be!). Info about the venue here.

The Parkway theaters are showing coverage on all screens in Oakland and El Cerrito.

Beer on tap, couches and pizza as always. Expect them to be full early, doors open at 5 and it's free admission.

Response by poster: Excellent -- I'll check some of these places out and I'll write up a report on Wednesday. Thanks!

Best answer: Mezzanine is a cool place and will have an Obama Victory Party that night.

Response by poster: Incidentally, there doesn't seem to be an S.F. election day meetup, so my plan is to make a decision on what bar to go to, and then post an announcement here and in MetaTalk on Friday. Currently I am leaning towards Mezzanine, but I might go for The Sublounge (in the Dogpatch, next to Potrero Hill) or House of Shields (downtown, near Market).

If enough Bay Area MeFi users have an alternate plan and wish to preempt my decision by holding a meetup in another bar or venue, I'm cool with that too.

Response by poster: Okay, I'm leaning towards House of Shields. Hope to see some of you there.

Response by poster: Just a follow-up, which I will also post to MetaTalk.

Started out at House of Shields. They had one small TV, tuned to a static-y Channel 7. It became clear that this wasn't the place to celebrate.

So I walked to the Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts, where there was a free party (with a cash bar). This was okay, until they started a drum circle in the main auditorium.

I fled from there and talked to some other refugees. We decided against Mezzaluna (likely too packed and too loud), and wandered over to get a slice and then for more drinking. We were in the pizza place when CNN called it for Obama.

Incidentally, this was probably the best possible day to beg for change in San Francisco of all time. I ended up giving various bums about 10 bucks. It was pretty blatant, but what the hell, even bums have to make money while the sun shines.

We ended up at a dive called the 2 Lips, where we watched his speech from Grant Park and downed shots of hard liquor. I highly recommend this place if you're in a "I just left the club and now I want to go somewhere with less noise but adequate booze" mood. Walking distance from the financial district.

But I appreciate all of the advice -- I will drink again in the future. I missed loquacious's shindig, but I hope to meet some of you at the next meetup.
