Single cupcake delivery in LA?

Help me deliver a single cupcake to my girlfriend's hotel room in Los Angeles by Friday evening.

I'd like to make a cupcake magically appear in her room, because she loves cupcakes and will be totally stressed out by the end of the week. She's leaving Saturday, so I have a couple days to try and work out how to get a single cupcake delivered. I tried Sprinkles but they have a minimum order of one dozen cupcakes. Perhaps there's some sort of baked good courier that rides around town? I'm happy to pay extra for the delivery. (Yes, this'll be the most expensive cupcake ever - but that's okay.) The destination zip code is 90045.

Sprinkles won't let you pay for a dozen but just create/deliver one? It's more profitable for them... they get the cash and save the ingredients and prep time.

Order the dozen, call the hotel and tell them the situation. Have them put one cupcake in her room, and give the rest to their staff.

I did something similar (only with liquor) in a hotel on the other side of the world and was able to arrange it despite the language barrier.

What sort of hotel is she staying in? A real hotel? Or a no-frills joint that calls itself a hotel? Is there a concierge? Perhaps they could arrange this for you?

This is a job for the concierge.

nthing the concierge idea, they should help you with this request. Be sure to send them a thank you note afterwards.

this is most likely going to be one hell of an expensive cupcake but it's a very cute idea. if she is staying at an upscale hotel, call the concierge. if the hotel she's at doesn't have one (aka. if it's a cheapo dump) ask the front desk for advice. if both those options fail, call on craigslist. perhaps post in hospitality job areas or some other job category. you are looking for someone who does wedding cakes (because they are used to driving around) or someone who works at a bakery. offer $50 to the person who delivers one awesome cupcake to the address, plead for help, make it a cute and funny post. I'm sure you'll get a response if you do it right.

oh yeah, consider laist.com or laobserved.com - the editors there might just write an article about the best cupcakes in town if you just ask.

If the concierge angle doesn't work out, send me an email. I'd be happy to help in whatever capacity is necessary.

If it helps any, Vanilla do awesome cupcakes and are much closer in Santa Monica. Also in SM are Yummy Cupcakes.

(Vanilla also do their single cupcakes in individual boxes, elevating the cute quotient)

I can confirm the yumminess of Yummy Cupcakes and heartily second them! Another option is Boule, who do local delivery. You would have to call and see if they will do the single cupcake, since that's not on their regular delivery menu.

Personally I'd have a dozen sent. After all, she might want to eat 2. Of course, if you can include at note at all (?) or you talk to her on the phone that night, I'd make it clear she doesn't have to eat them all ;-)

No recommendation on method (the concierge seems like the best idea), but a recommendation on cupcakes: Auntie Em's makes the best red velvet cupcakes in LA.

(Also, if all else fails and you're willing to spend an ASSLOAD of money, you can probably hire the kind of courier that works for law firms to go, buy the cupcake, and deliver it.)

Drop me a memail...I'll help if no one at the hotel will!

The owner of Cupcakes & Co and I went to culinary school together...I can snag something on the way home from work in Glendale to home in West LA and drop it....just because this sounds like fun :)
