Current Events Forum?

Can anyone recommend a good current events discussion forum?
I'm a big fan of the Democratic Underground's Latest Breaking News forum, but realize that the discussions there are largely one sided due to its inherently liberal bias, which while totally awesome...isn't doing much for my ability to see the world from a bipartisan perspective.
Anyone know of a forum dealing with current events that possesses equally high traffic and active posters as the DU, but doesn't necessary have a declared political leaning?
*I've checked out politicalfilter and while I clearly love the metafilter-esq nature of it, the traffic is a little light.

Response by poster: Unixrate - thanks for the tip. Is that SFW?

The only caveat for SomethingAwful is that you need to pay $9.95 and register an account just to *read* the D&D forum, not just to post there. But if you're really wanting for a wild and wooly debating society, you can't do much worse than that.

SomethingAwful D&D is nice although they do lean towards liberal/liberterian a fair bit (of course in my opinion this is convergence towards the truth).
The comments on some NY Times articles can be extremely interesting, and the editors sometimes pick "best comments" which can be helpful.

Yeah, the SA D&D forum is pretty much the last place left on the internet where you can have regular and intelligent political debate.

Er... yes. I guess this means I can never again roll my eyes at people who say they "could care less."

The rest of the SA forums have gone downhill so badly over the 9 years I've been a lurker there -- I've never even bothered to check the D&D forum. Perhaps I will, now.
