paypal, 1and1, and zencart are not playing well together.

Zencart + 1and1 mysql database + paypal + error code that my Elance provider is not fixing = angry client.

I have a small web design company and when we get a surplus of work or there is a skillset we do not have internally, we turn to Elance to help out. It works out well most of the time. And it did with this one as well, until now.

We set up a website with a ZenCart payment gateway that works with Paypal pro to have the CC information inputted onto the site, w/o getting redirected to paypal.

The payment works great when they use the pay with paypal button, but if they choose to pay with their CC on the site they get an error code of:

10501 Invalid Configuration - This transaction cannot be processed due to an invalid merchant configuration.

Paypal says it's not on their side, and my elance provider has told me they'll look into it multiple times and is now ignoring my email requests.

Is there a generally easy fix to something like this? Of course there isn't but, but perhaps a set area where I can look myself not being a mysql expert? Or do I need to go back to elance and hire another provider to fix it? This needs to be rectified today.

Any help or advice that can be shared would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

There is a discussion thread on the zen cart forums about that error.

I would suggest hiring a real expert, somebody local, with a phone who will answer it when you call. The fly by night guys in Bangalore are cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Response by poster: It turns out the client didn't do as instructed, and wasn't set up with the correct type of account.

As far as Evite goes, not all contractors are in some far away land. Theres plenty of quality contractors in every country from here, to Europe to southeast Asia.
