Is using FTP an option? Or do you want to do a 1 Click Install type thing through Webfaction itself?

I'd say that if Ask Metafilter can help with this better than contacting Webfaction's tech support, then it's time to switch web hosts.

Response by poster: as far as i can tell, there is no 1 click option for updating. I'll try anything i need direction though, and yes webfaction's interface stinks

Best answer: OK, updating via FTP is probably going to be your best bet, then. There are some instructions here.

Or, you could try using the Wordpress Automatic Update plugin, which will do most of the work for you.

Either way, you're going to need to know your FTP credentials. If you don't know what they are, you'll need to ask your host.

There is no one click webfaction way to update.. You will need to just follow wordpresses instructions via FTP. You should be able to login to FTP with your control panel password and username.
I use webfaction, btw and I love them!
