My extended family ( wife, 2 teens, teens uncle, and grandparents ) would like to spend some time in the Asheville area over Thanksgiving. Would love a good mix of food, hiking, and local things to do. What area should we stay in? If you suggest spending some time in Asheville proper and then moving to a place in mountains, not averse to that. We will have about 5 days.

I have about eight hours between checkout in my hotel and my bus. I have spent a week in Asheville, and have done almost everything I could in town, I think. I don't drive so I can't do a day trip out of town. Any thoughts about how to kill eight hours (from noon to ten) tomorrow, in town?

Partner and I are going to Asheville for Thanksgiving (from NYC) and are planning to get in a couple of days of road-tripping at the beginning of the week. We've driven around on the Asheville-area section of the BRP and loved it, so one idea is to take a train to DC, rent a car there and start on the Northern end of the Parkway. Looking for recommendations for things to do and places to stay along that route, or alternatively, other suggestions that would make for a good 2-day-or-so drive. We don't really want to drive the whole way from NY, but something like flying to Atlanta and wending our way north, maybe? Other scenarios?

This weekend, my wife and I will be taking our trusty hound, Rosie to Asheville, NC. We're looking for outdoorsy things to do or places to go that we could enjoy together (as well as human only places, though many people have that question before). Suggestions for hikes, activities, restaurants, shops, etc. are welcome!

Very last minute trip to Asheville, NC and wondering what to do for four days! Can anyone recommend zip line tours? Hikes are a plus but concerned it might be touristy? Should probably check out the Biltmore? Sorry, just internet overwhelmed and its coming down to the wire. Details are me, partner and three teenage girls that are up for anything. Freecellwizard and I will be heading to Asheville, NC for a week with two kids, ages 9 and 11.
