I am meeting up with some friends in Charlotte who have a long layover there Saturday morning. I live just a couple of hours away but have not spent much time there. Can you recommend a good breakfast spot and/or places we could hang out for a few hours that would occupy the kids (ages 7-9) and also give us adults some time to chat?

East Coast Road Trip-Filter: a friend is having a very rough year but is finally taking three days (Aug. 24th - 26th) for much-needed road trip. She may not get to take another one for a while, so we want to make the most of it. My question: what can you recommend within a ~400-mile radius of Philadelphia (places, activities, events, gatherings, WHATEVER) that might be mind-blowingly memorable? The kinda stuff that makes you blurt, "Holy CRAP, this is AMAZING!"... the kinda stuff she and I can enthusiastically reminisce about for years to come. [more inside]

My wife and I are going to Asheville, NC this weekend. We plan to spend most of our time relaxing, shopping, eating out, and chilling at the spa (we're staying at the Grove Park Inn - best spa ever). We would like to plan one or two outdoorsy activities for one day - maybe 5 hours maximum. We need some advice on what to do and where to do it. [more inside]

The boardwalk on Rehoboth Beach, Del. is my idea of heaven: arcades, pizza places, and mini golf all within walking distance, and right on top of a beautiful beach. Is there anything like that (even at a smaller scale) in the Outer Banks? [more inside]

We're considering a family vacation at one of those mondo multi family homes at the shore in North Carolina, but would prefer a lifeguarded beach. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'll be in the Outer Banks the weekend before Thanksgiving ... I'm assuming that local television comes from somewhere in NC and that I'll get Tampa Bay @ Carolina on the local FOX affiliate? Or are the local affiliates from Southeastern Virginia (which, I assume, would show Eagles-Redskins)? My real question is ... what are my chances of seeing the Cardinals-Falcons game? And is there any way to "find" the Falcons game online if there is no chance that it will be shown in the OBX? Are there any restaurants/bars in the OBX that might show lots of games?

I've somehow been tasked with organizing a family reunion for my HUGE family. There could be up to 75 people there if everyone comes with spouses/SOs and kids. I plan large events for work and have done travel events like this (bachelorette parties, ski weekends) for smaller groups, but this is a real challenge for a group this large. Advice? [more inside]
