A couple days in Hong Kong next week... Suggestions?

I ended up with a couple extra days of dead time next week in Hong Kong. Never been, and need suggestions for ways to spend the time. Quirky, unusual , mostly daytime activities and excursions most appreciated.

Hong Kong - easy hike, easy access from Kowloon?

A colleague and I are taking some students to Hong Kong over our university's December break, and some of the group is interested in organizing a hike. Our schedule is pretty full and I'm not sure everyone is up for a long, strenuous, or technical hike, so I'm reaching out for recommendations that are (1) friendly for casual hikers, and (2) relatively easy access from the MTR. Hong Kong — Shenzhen — Hong Kong: What should I do and see?

I’ll be tagging along with my wife as her company sends her to Hong Kong and Shenzhen for 10 days this December. (How fortunate are we!!!???) We’ll be staying in Kowloon first, then Shenzhen, then Hong Kong island. The company has lots of stuff planned, but also some down time here and there (and when my wife is working proper, I’ll be left to my own devices). What should we absolutely not fail to do and see while we are there? [more inside]

7 Nights in Hong Kong

I'll be in HK from June 1 to 8 with my husband. He will be at a conference for part of the time. Since we just confirmed the trip, we do not have any logistics planned yet. This will be our first time in HK. We are traveling from the US and we have both been to SE Asia before. I looked through some past questions on where to stay and what to eat. Since we will be there for a full week, I am wondering if the lodging recommendations may differ. We would like to be centrally located but I think having a slightly roomier space with easy access to the center would probably suffice. A previous answer said that there isn't really a difference between Air B&B's and hotels. Is that still the case? Our price range would be about $100-150/night. Another question, do you have recommendations on getting local sim cards. We have unlocked iPhones. We are early 30's with no kids. We love spicy foods, street food, flea markets, whiskey, espressos, scenic walks/hikes/bike rides/ferry trips, and trying new makeup & skincare (that one is just me)

Cool one or two-day courses to take in Hong Kong

Hi, I'll be in HK for part of February, and wondering if you can recommend any cool and interesting courses that visitors can take? They'd have to be in English, but other than that I'm looking for things that I wouldn't be able to experience elsewhere. This needn't be necessarily HK-specific, I mean if you know of say, a physics lecturer who'd blow my socks off, I'd be keen to hear about it. [more inside]

Hong Kong Question

My wife, 2 kids (aged 3 and 1) and I are going on a trip to Hong Kong for 3 nights next month. I booked through a travel agent who put us up in a nice hotel at Sha Tin. For a variety of reasons I didn't really check where that hotel was before locking it all in, and I realised afterwards that its about 30 mins from Hong Kong itself. Has anyone stayed in that area and have any advise on whether we should stay there or move to a more central hotel? [more inside]

How can I get some business cards printed in Hong Kong without being there?

A friend of mine is going to Hong Kong on a business trip and the fresh business cards he collected a few hours ago are pretty poorly made. Nooo! I'm hoping that while he's flying there I might be able to help out by getting some printed and couriered to his hotel ready for his arrival. Can anyone recommend a good printer there? [more inside]

Getting around HK this week

Going to HK on Wednesday, and wondering how much getting around is affected by the situation in Central. More specifically, getting from the airport to hotel in Shatin, and getting from the hotel to City University (Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre). Is there anything to be concerned about / that I should know before setting off? Many thanks.

Are Google's estimate public transit times for Hong Kong way off?

Google Maps' estimates of travel times using the MTR in HK vary wildly from the MTR's own webpage. Ie from Tin Hau to University station, Google says 1hr 24mins incl walking time to Tin Hau, which is maybe 10 mins tops. MTR website says 44 mins for the same journey, not incl walking to station obviously. This discrepancy repeats itself across various planned journeys. Who should I trust?
