We were planning a trip to St. Lawrence market tomorrow morning (Sunday Oct 22) for a friends' birthday, with out-of-town guests. But I just realized tomorrow is the Toronto Marathon, and it looks like there are some crazy road closures around there. Can we do this? [more inside]
I have tickets to the Arcade Fire show in Windsor on November 1 and want to stay in Windsor rather than trying to battle the tunnel traffic back to Detroit after the concert. Any recommendations for one within walking distance? [more inside]
Getting stuck in traffic when you're trying to get away for a relaxing weekend sucks! I'm trying to figure out how early would I have to leave to avoid it when taking the 400 north out of Toronto on a Friday. Anyone familiar with this route have any idea? [more inside]

An adult and three teenagers have four hours to drive in, enjoy Kensington Market and its attractions, and be on our way. I can't find much information here less than five years old, so please help me ensure my basic info is solid. [more inside]
My husband and I were just approved for PR in Canada - yay! We're looking at moving to Toronto so will need medical cover for the first 3 months before we're eligible for OHIP. The visitor cover looks pretty basic and expensive for what it is. Would we be better off getting travel insurance from Australia for this period instead? Or is the hassle of dealing with an overseas insurer not worth it?
Ottawa is going to be crazy busy this weekend. We are going to be in town, and want to see the fireworks Saturday night. Give me your suggestions for good, lesser know/somewhat less crowded vantage points - ideally those we can drive to. I know it's going to be nuts - missing the fireworks is not an option for our group. Hope me!
After five years in Toronto, I desperately need to get into the woods for a few days. I'm looking for Greyhound-accessible non-camping accommodation in or near Algonquin Park or a similar nature area near Toronto. At the same time, I have a few limitations: [more inside]
We're flying to Ottawa July 27-30 in order to see the performance of La Machine. The website is vague on details and I want to get an AirBnB that won't be too far from the action. Help? [more inside]
I'll be in Ottawa for work towards the end of June. I'll have a day or two on either side of the event I'm going to, and want to see some of the city. I've never been to Canada before. What would be interesting or fun to see? [more inside]
As someone with (a) no driver's license, (b) on a budget, and (c) who wants to buy furniture off of Craigslist, I have very limited options in terms of moving the stuff back to my place. Any ideas? [more inside]
I'll be visiting Toronto next month with my partner and would love to find some interesting walking tours. We're not interested in a general intro tour of the entire city, but instead, tours focusing on a particular area or subject. [more inside]

Can anyone tell me what is happening with Hwy 427 (in Mississauga, Ontario) as it goes northbound past Pearson airport? It seems to have been under construction for a very long time. But nothing seems to have happened for a very long time and it looks like there are three or four completed, unused lanes just sitting there to the west of the over-congested lanes. What is the problem??? What are they waiting for?

My partner is working in Brampton, Ontario next week. He needs to plan how to best travel to Toronto from there. Is there an easy way to do this on public transportation? Or is Uber or taxi his best bet? Any advice would be appteciated. [more inside]
Arriving Sunday morning - have Sunday and Monday essentially to run around, eat and drink and have a good time. Staying near Union Station and relying on public transport...been to Niagara, so no need for a detour outside of the city. Suggestions? St. Lawrence market appears to be closed both days, which makes me very sad. Snowflakes inside. [more inside]

Flying back to the US out of Toronto Pearson on a Saturday 7:45 AM flight (AA terminal 3). How early should we get there to deal with customs, security, checking bags ... (we are US citizens).
