I am traveling to Europe for work, for a week. I have never been outside the US before. Please tell me about very simple, basic things which I might not know due to inexperience.

Which ski resorts in Eastern Austria would one recommend? It seems the majority of recommended Austrian ski resorts are on the Western side of the country. However, we're traveling by car from Budapest, and in our wish to keep the drive under four hours, wish to stick with Eastern Austria. Flying is not an option. Also, with English-instruction on learning how to snowboard would be a plus. One of us is very well versed with skiing resources in France, but when it comes to Austria we are clueless!

Looking for recommendations of bakeries, cafes, konditorei, restaurants, etc with AMAZING sweets and pastries in Vienna. Am looking to avoid touristy places like
Demel. Bonus points for places (regardless of sweet offerings) with views, like
Cafe Urania.

My grandparents were part of a group taken to Austria as slave laborers via the Strasshof concentration camp. The last surviving member of the group remembers their destination as being "Landerthal near Blaustaden, Austria". Does anyone know where this is?

I'm going to be in Vienna from September 26 (early morning) - 29 (afternoon). I'm 18 years old and will be traveling with friends. What should we do/ see?
I've been put in charge of figuring all this out, but apart from the obvious tourist things I don't know what's good. I guess I'm looking for more off-the-beaten-path stuff.
Thank you!

Short-term housing in Vienna: Where should I be looking to find cheap yet private (non-roommate) housing for just the month of November? I've tried Craigslist, all the housing sites I can find via Google, all the Youth Houses, and more. I'm fine with German-language sites.
