I cannot remember where I found this YouTube video. It is a song about cats in boxes. I vaguely remember the line "cats in boxes are amazing" in it. I think at some point the cat(s) may be removed from the box, and then possibly replaced in the box. The song was sung by a girl (I think) and had a sort of indie/folk-y backing to it. [more inside]

There's a German, or Austrian comedian that goes around the US in public places dense with pedestrians and asks questions (mock interview style) about Germany, while playing up a euro-german sort of archetype. I have searched to no avail, if anyone could link or send a name it would very appreciated. And, it is so funny if I don't see it I will die. Thanks!

I'm looking for a cool video that came out a couple years ago featuring hundreds (if not thousands) of still photos of Portland Oregon house fronts, played very quickly in succession.
What is the music in the background of this video? Bonus: Where else has it been featured? It is so familiar it's driving me batty.
How can I put long-ish videos online without them being public yet accessible by computer illiterate people?
What are the options for making publicly available educational movie files, so they can be accessed by computer illiterate people, yet without making them publicly available/indexed by Google? I tried YouTube but hit its "video is too long" limitation (the movies are 35 minutes and I really don't want to chop them up into 10 min chunks). The movies are created by a charity and I have full permission of the copyright holder. The movies are not available online anywhere else. (Read on for more info.) [more inside]

I'm putting together a compilation of fun/cool/interesting/astonishing vids off youtube vimeo etc and etc to show to people, trying to give a little bit of a sense why I like the internet so much, why I get such a kick out of it, show to people who aren't as familiar with what is "out there" on the inter-tubes and/or aren't familiar with the net at all. So. Here's my question: What are your must-show videos, what do you share with friends and family, what video do you say to a good friend "Oh jesus, you've just got to see this!" [more inside]

Why is it that, when content providers go on DMCA takedown-sprees on YouTube, versions of the content that were visibly filmed off of a TV or other monitor often remain? Is this some kind of loophole, or do content providers choose not to go after low quality copies of copyrighted content?
I can sing, and I have a MacBook Pro. What's the easiest and/or cheapest way for me to make a video where I am singing all four parts of an a cappella song? Kind of like this (in terms of style, not content).
I am an instructor and sometimes would like to play segment 1:15-2:25 from one YouTube video, followed by another segment from the same or another video, etc. Is there a site, tool, or incantation that lets me easily set this up so I'm not jumping around and switching tabs and clicking links during class time? I know how to create a URL that jumps right to the starting point of a clip but want to go a step or two beyond that. I didn't create/upload the videos, so I can't use YouTube's Video Editor.
Remember the Diet Coke and Mentos video? I'm looking for similar examples of internet memes that members of the public could, in theory, learn to replicate at home. Stuff like cup stacking; make-up tutorials; Double Dream Hands; or opening a beer with your arm. It mustn't be anything that requires special powers (eg double-jointedness) or special props - just household objects. Suggestions?
Looking for a viral youtube video that was a parody of "body language" instructional videos. I think it was made by some comedy troupe a few years back. There's a part where they "decode" what people are saying with their body language, e.g. someone waves at someone else and the narrator says, "I am unarmed." And I think there's a part where they show lines coming from someone's crotch and they say, "My penis is powerful!" I think it was pretty popular and had a couple million views, but I cannot for the life of me find it.
iMovie HD. I am having to upload a lot of 4-5 minute videos to YouTube for a project I'm doing. I need the finished product to be in good resolution once uploaded. If I export them to "full quality," they take almost 6 hours to upload and sometimes fail to process at the end, which is maddening. If I export them to "CD-ROM" quality, they upload a lot faster but the resolution is too poor. Is there a sweet spot in the "Expert Settings" I could use so that they upload in just a couple of hours and still look reasonably clear? Obviously I know next to nothing, so please speak slowly.

YouTube sleuthing question: When you're logged in, the home page shows a timeline of activity from all the accounts you've subscribed to. This is activity like uploading a new video, or liking/favoriting someone else's video. You can also click on a username to see that person's individual activity feed. What circumstances could cause an action to appear in the main feed, but not in the personal one for that user? [more inside]

I'm working on new finance-based startup in the Marietta, GA (just outside of Atlanta, GA) and I'd like to hire someone to come in do bi-weekly interviews of me and my team as we go through the process (kind of like the Robert Scoble interviews if you've ever seen them). It's a pretty exciting time for us and our product and I've been told by many that we should start a blog or youtube channel to share our experiences. There's also an interesting personal piece that both me and the CEO would be interested in sharing and that I think a lot of young people would be interested in hearing. The problem is that in the list of things we can spend our time doing, setting up equipment, doing the interviews, and editing the videos is low priority. Can anyone recommend a company or how I can find an individual who would be interested in doing this for us?

How do I disable YouTube's safety mode? My spouse somehow enabled it last week and we've been gong crazy trying to get rid of it. I've tried Googling this, and done everything others have suggested (apparently this is a common problem) but nothing works. And yes, I've gone to the bottom of the screen and switched the safety mode to "off", but it goes right back on again. HELP! We have Google Chrome, if that matters.
