who is the singer or band? I remember seeing a music video on youtube about 8 months ago? in it the female singer is singing while riding a bike the whole time. Behind her, kids on freestyle bikes come out of the woodwork and are doing trick throughout the video. The song was good. something like modest mouse meets regina spektor on a bike... help me.

Why is ABC's new show "Pushing Daisies" not on iTunes, or Youtube, or for that matter, anywhere? I don't want to download them, just watch!
I can't help but not trust the ABC site viewer, especially when it asks to download plug-ins on my computer. Can anyone tell me if they're worth trusting? Or should I wait for the DVD? I'm very paranoid about downloading stuff I can't find anything out about. Help please!

Why have YouTube videos started loading very slowly for me, and how can I fix it? For no apparent reason my computer now downloads YouTube videos very slowly. It used to be the case that they'd load at what I think of as "decent broadband speed" - maybe two or three times faster than the length of the video itself. But they now arrive at a pace which is rather slower-than-play-speed, so I can't even hit play and watch the thing normally, let alone skip ahead.

It's a bit erratic though, sometimes it's only a bit slow, sometimes it is PAINFULLY SO. I don't get any problems streaming video from other sites, even HD stuff.

I'm using Windows XP and Firefox 3, no funky add-ons. Any ideas?

Download/string together Youtube videos?

What would be the quickest and easiest way to download about 30 or so 3-5 minute videos from Youtube, and string them together into one long video? I already have a program to download youtube videos, but if anyone has one that is free and can download multiple ones at the same time, that wouldd be great. I need a program that I can put them all into and the export as one large continuous movie file (preferably mpg4, but not required). I need all these programs to be free, any ideas?

Nine times out of ten when I follow a link to a YouTube video, I get the message, "We're sorry, this video is no longer available." What am I doing wrong? I know the video must be available, because people are discussing it and no one mentions it's been taken down. This happens to me whether it's an embedded video or I follow the link to YouTube's page. I'm using Windows Vista and IE, and the problem seemed to start after I installed Vista last month (never had the problem with IE & Windows XP), so I'm thinking it's a problem with my settings maybe? But then why do some videos play and others not? Anyone else get this problem? Help me to fix!

Firefox and Youtube aren't mating

YouTube isn't displaying videos in Firefox 3.0 (upgrade) - why? Just did what I said I wouldn't do and downloaded the latest version of FF - and now it doesn't display any videos on Youtube. Uninstalled flash plugin - installed - doesn't help. Any ideas?

Help me put together a fun YouTube playlist for a casual small party environment. Funny, short, smart. So I got one of them Apple TVs a while back and it's best (and least discussed) feature is its YouTube interface.

Now, when I have friends over we often spend a lot of time checking out lots of old concert footage (Old Grey Whistle Test, etc) or videos. But now I would like to have a list of cool comedies and shorts at the ready.

Things we have loved: Yacht Rock (Amazing!), Italian Spiderman, No Direction Period (great Dylan parody).

You get the idea: funny, smart, short attention span--think a homebrew Kentucky Fried Movie.

I want to find a video I saw on YouTube about a year ago. It was a short animation about a pig with a song in Spanish. What is it called? I can't believe that I can't remember the name of this video. It was a sad, sad story about a pig being sent off to slaughter, and during the chorus (which I think was describing the pig escaping to safety, although I'm not sure) the pig was running away happily. But it was only a dream.

The video was animated simply, and it was in black and white. The song was (I think) in Spanish.

Why has Youtube started plaing in Flash? I am on a dialup, so if there is anything I want to see, I know it is a matter of clicking, minimizing, and waiting a half hour to hit view again. This morning, it started playing in flash mode, the little circle of dots going round, and even if I let it load all the way and hit watch again, its starts loading again. My computer?, or just changes at YT?

What gives Firefox?

Firefox fails me. I can't figure out why I can hear audio on YouTube, but not see the videos. I just get a big white, empty space where the video should be. What gives? It looks like Flash is installed. Do I need something else?

Looking for Art Exhibition CGI video

I'm looking for a source (video name, who did it, what the music is called, why was it made, is it available online, any other information) of the CGI video that appears at the very start of this YouTube video of Tomorrows World c1984 clip. I don't know whether it was a Fairlight CVI that created the effect (or CMI in the music) - I'm not that interested if it was / wasn't - I would just like to see the video again I also really liked the music.

I seem to recall it was a SIGGRAPH entrant or something - and the CGI video followed a visitor (or possibly a security guard?) around a (closed?) CGI Art exhibit, as various (famous) paintings came to life around him.

I've looked around the SIGGRAPH sites, but I couldn't find any early videos.

Any pointers gratefully received.

YouTube videos stuck on the loading screen--how do I fix? I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition on a Dell E510. I recently installed AIM, then uninstalled it. Since then, YouTube doesn't work. I can navigate around the site, but all videos are stuck on the loading screen.

I've tried everything I can think of:

- restarting
- turning off Windows Firewall and Norton Antivirus worm protection etc.
- unintalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash
- disabling GreaseMonkey and AdBlock
- reinstalling Firefox
- trying it in IE and Opera

Nothing works.

Flash video player works fine on other video sites, such as nytimes.com and devilducky.com. Other movie sites like apple.com/trailers work fine.

Any help? Thanks in advance.

Help me find longer lectures on Youtube. Is there a browsable index of what's on posted on Youtube (something more detailed and descriptive than the left sidebar on the homepage, the channels page, or the few video links that show up on any given page)? I'd like to find something to watch on my ipod at the gym, something to hold my interest for fifteen to sixty minutes, but not videos of laughing babies, music videos or teenagers beating up each other. Doing a search for "university lectures" leads me to the several UC Berkeley lecture series and the inspiring lecture from the fellow with pancreatic cancer. Is it possible to move beyond that into other college lectures or even multipart courses (arts or science), discussions, longer films, the unexpected? How do I find them?

Where's that cool video documentary blog I found?

Can anyone help me find a great blog of smart, interesting video links that I had bookmarked and lost? So I found this great blog a few months ago which I had bookmarked - it had embedded videos to documentaries and other interesting full-length features.

Other things I remember about it:
- I think it had "TV" in the title
- All I remember about the page itself, besides the embedded videos, was that it had a little sidebar describing the site as saying something along the lines of "no talking dogs - only intelligent stuff here." (Or something mocking all the dog videos on youtube.)

If it's any help I do remember three things I found linked through this site:
- The documentary Control Room in its entirety on Google Video
- A weird but funny 10-minute mockumentary about CERN
- A documentary about John Lennon's lost jukebox and the way the songs he loved influenced his own music.

This site was real quality and I've been googling and googling with no luck. I have no idea where I found it. Maybe you guys can help me out.

Easiest Way To Put DVD>Google Video ? This shouls be a pretty easy thing to do, but i am having trouble.

I have DVDs which I own the copyright to. (for example, old home movies converted to dvd.)

I want to upload to google video. (why there? because all the other places seem to have a 10 minute limit on uploads.)

is there a single piece of software that i can use to do the job for me? and if not, what is the best way to go?

rpping the dvd to my hard disk seems to take hours and hog my CPU... so to upload 50 DVDs like that is not practical...

(or is there a way to upload a .VOB to google video by chaning the extension to .mpg or something? :lightbulb:)

How do I view the Hitler mashups that were just deleted from the front page -- from within Germany? This post got deleted just before I could make this comment:

Wow, you want to hear something funny? I live in Germany and I can't see any of these videos. I get a message saying "This video is not available in your country." I'm computer-illiterate...does anyone know how I can get around this?

I'm genuinely curious now...can't I see these videos somehow? I logged out of youtube and I managed to find and erase a cookie file called something like "youtube[2]" -- but still, no dice. Also you get bonus points if you know the backstory as to why I can't see them. I know that Nazi literature is semi-forbidden here, but since when does this extend to youtube mashups?

An easy-to-change video embed?

Designed a web site for a guy. Short of going whole-hog blog, is there an easy way I can make it so he can log in and change one little YouTube embed (or other bit of HTML) at his convenience? What I mean is, without setting up a blog-style diary or any kind of chronological format...whether there's some tool...almost like Twitter but supporting embedded video...so that he could go in and change a "Video of the Day," without much trouble or without knowing much about HTML.

Using Youtube without using the front page, or any other methods of getting around Chinese censorship. I need to put some videos up on Youtube, but I am in China. They've opened youtube back up, but it will go down for a few seconds every time a questionable video goes up.

Since the front page of Youtube automatically cycles through videos, it is going down all the time, and it seems to always default to the front page every time I log in. Is there a way to use youtube, while never going to the front page, or is there some switch i can throw and make the front page of youtube cleaner and more google like.

FinnishFilter: Can anyone confirm or deny whether this song is being sung in Finnish? (Youtube link) Or, is it any other known human language? Or is he just making it up? The clip is from the movie Aaltra and has become my favorite rendition of the song Sunny, but I have to know more about it.

Help with creating a video on demand page for a school TV station

Ideas for creating a website for a campus TV station; basically a blog with embedded videos but I still need ideas and guidance. So I'm part of the campus TV station and we've been thinking about building ourselves a website to publish our videos online.

We are not a TV station that does produce its own footage but we mostly record campus events and put them on DVDs. (There's really a lot more that goes into this it sounds) But occasionally, people want immediate access to videos and I think as a campus TV station it's our responsibility to cater to people's needs. For example, some important people came to campus recently and we really could not publish it reliably anywhere -we broadcast on the closed-circuit campus network and there's a web feed as well but no one really watches TV here.

So I've been thinking about basically creating a modified WordPress blog with publishing videos when we get them. Bandwidth is not an issue since it's mostly going to be on campus and we have extra bandwidth if we ever need it. And yeah, our machines are pretty fitting for that purpose.

I know a decent amount of X/HTML and CSS. I've done some PHP and RoR work but it's been a while.

My questions are on the web site.

1) We'll most likely use Flash. Our workflow is mostly Final Cut Pro based but we can export it to Flash apparently. I've tested some videos and they seem decent enough. However, I do not know much about integrating our own FLV videos into WordPress. Does anyone have any experience on that? I know there are tons of plugins for YouTube or the sorts but these videos will be hosted on our servers.
2) About that; I'd want to use a customized FLV player if possible. I'm not really sure where to start. If this is very hard, at the least I'd want to have a FLV player that allows full-screening. Any ideas?
3) I'm also looking for a decent looking WordPress theme. I remember seeing a paid one that was very fitting for a magazine sort of site but I cannot seem to find it. Ideally I'd create our own template but I really don't have time for that. Are there any DECENT templates that you can think that would be good for this purpose.

That is all I can think of right now. In general, I'd welcome all sorts of comments regarding this; if you have the slightest bit of experience in online video please share.

How would you transform YouTube fame into money? Fred and Sharon have almost a million hits on YouTube, but between answering emails and baking bread they have no time or expertise to plan a strategy to make money with this. Their window of opportunity may be very short. How can people with overnight fame but limited resources succeed financially in the longer term?
