Help me decide how to put a DVD online.

So I have this DVD with accompanying copyright information, descriptive notes and disclaimers and I'd like to put it online so others can access it. The last time I did such a thing, I ripped it and converted to FLV and used JW Player. I could do that again but I wonder if that's what people at the end of 2014 would do. Are we in a post-flash world? Could I do something similar in a different format? (Even though I have some experience with this, please "explain like I'm 5.") [more inside]

Hunting a Specific YouTube Fair-Use Case

I'm looking for a specific YouTube video, involved in a Fair-Use copyright case, that had been taken down and some months later allowed to reposted after having been approved by courts as transformative. It involved using two different movie-industry film footage segments that, when interspersed with each other, created a new conversation between two characters of different fictional universes. Apple Think Different commercial pulled from Youtube by FOX complaint?

I had 2 versions of the Apple Think Different ad in a playlist from a few months ago. I went to watch them recently and the pages say "This video contains content from FOX, who has blocked it on copyright grounds." What claim does FOX have to take these down? How can I find out more about the takedown notice. [more inside]

What's with the prevalence of filmed-off-TV YouTube videos?

Why is it that, when content providers go on DMCA takedown-sprees on YouTube, versions of the content that were visibly filmed off of a TV or other monitor often remain? Is this some kind of loophole, or do content providers choose not to go after low quality copies of copyrighted content?

I want to include a 40-year-old song in a Youtube video...

I'm trying to find out: a) is the song copyrighted? b) who owns it? c) will they let me use it? (is this a pipe dream?) The song is Ice Pick Mike by Lalo Schifrin, and it's on the soundtrack to Bullitt. Totally groovin', BTW. :)
