Since the magazine hasn't answered my email I'll ask y'all. I was thinking about purchasing the online subscription to the New Yorker so I can read their archives. Anyone know what format the archived articles are available in? Can you only read online or do they allow you to download so you can read stuff on your device? Epub? Pdf?

What is the best deal I can get on a New Yorker subscription.
Last time I renewed my subscription I used the lowest price I found on the internet/mailings and said that I wanted that price and the umbrella. I know they have had $26 deals out there? Anyone got any good offers lately? I saw Amazon is selling subscriptions for a year for $40, on the New Yorker website you can also get a calendar with that. Anything better?

When do you get your copy of the New Yorker, the New York Review of Books or the Atlantic?
I'm considering subscribing to the print edition of one or more of these magazines, however, for my own reasons, my decision will be affected by when the magazines will hit my mailbox.

Please help me find the name and author of a short story I read in The New Yorker within the last five years or so. The premise of the story is a teacher at a prep school in Manhattan is brought home by one of his students because she has decided he's the person she is going to marry. Toward the end of the story, the girl's father punches the teacher in the stomach unexpectedly. I believe the story won some awards.

John McNulty, a newspaper "rewrite" man and writer for the New Yorker died in 1956 (his 2nd wife, Faith, just past away a week ago). He was good friends with the humorist James Thurber, who writes warmly about him. I'm looking for other contemporary mentions of McNulty.
