My favorite podcast has charged me with the responsibility of organizing a meetup in NYC. Does anyone have any suggestions for a coffee place or bar/pub that could accommodate 20 or so people on a Thursday night in downtown Manhattan???

Can anyone give me advice (outside of Craigslist) on finding housing options in New York City that run month to month? I've lived in the East Village for two years, but was able to sign a lease. I just finished grad school and don't have a full-time job secured, so signing a new lease is not viable for me right now. I'm looking for something that's under $800 a month, in a safe area, in Manhattan (probably not going to happen at that range), Queens, or Brooklyn, and as easily accessible from the train as possible. Astoria, Jackson Heights, Park Slope, or Long Island City would be ideal.

Location scout filter: What are some great locations in & around NYC for photography? Both photographing models (aka friends) and just general photographing what's there (street/wildlife photography). Funky interior indoor locations especially welcome. Doubly so if they'd actually let me set up some modest gear & spend some time. [more inside]

Mr. Brunette and I are headed to Manhattan this week with our four-month old for a three-day excursion. We've already seen this
so we think we've got the car seat/cab thing sussed but we're still seeking tips for making the most of a hot, long weekend. Considering the kid won't remember any of this, we're aiming to do things that we'll enjoy but that also are suitable for carting around the baby and snap and go stroller. We're staying on the Upper West Side and are keen to visit the MoMA, Museum of Natural History and the Guggenheim. Debating the Circle Line cruise and wondering how this is best done (if at all) with long lines, car seat, etc. Also, any tips on vegetarian, baby friendly restaurants?

We are planning a move to NYC and have a toddler with asthma. I've been trying to find information on suburbs of NYC with the best air quality but not having much luck. Everything I've read so far points northward, Westchester County....Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I'm starting a project wherein I walk each and every block of every street in Manhattan, at least once, over the course of roughly 2-3 months. I want to chronicle this process of walking all of Manhattan in a daily blog, preferably with a daily picture and some text. What do I call this blog? (And should I use tumblr? And anything else to keep in mind?) [more inside]

Guitarfilter? I have a Charvel Surfcaster from the mid-90s that I need to sell. While I could just put it on ebay and see who's looking, I live in New York and figure there must be great local dealers who would be interested. Any New York guitar playing mefites who can recommend a good place to check with? Any luck selling your own gear?

Trying to figure out the prefect trip for late July. So far my top two choices are Upstate New York and Montana. I'm not set on either but we have family in Milton and Cold Spring NY and I have heard that Montana is nice in the summer. I'd love any and all suggestions. We are in Texas so we are looking for a cool climate break (70s or 80s are ideal). Also we will have our 5 month old with us. [more inside]
