Home Sweet Brooklyn

When is the best month to move in New York?? Seriously! We all know moving in June is the worst because of all the kids leaving college and moving here. People aren't leaving their apartments in January and February, so that's not good either. So, when is the optimal time for a person to get the best deal on a rental in New York?

Brooklyn loft

Where can I find raw space lofts (residential) in Brooklyn, New York? And what kind of price range would we be talking about? Where can I find raw space lofts (residential) in Brooklyn, New York? Most places offered on craiglist are renovated already. How and where can I find unrenovated/raw lofts that I could remodel myself?

And what kind of price range would we be talking about?

How To Know If A Subletting Offer Is A Scam?

What's the best way to find out who owns an apartment in New York City? A relative of mine has been offered a sublet, but the circumstances seem very shady. I think my relative (who will be completely new to the "big city") is being scammed. I don't think the "owner" of the apartment is truly the owner. How does one go about finding out who owns property in NYC in regard to apartments? The apartment is in a well-known building in a high-end Manhattan neighborhood, which most likely has celebrity residents, so I don't know if that complicates things. Any help would be appreciated, as my relative is a complete novice at things like this, and I don't have any experience with it either, and I'd like to be able to give good advice.

why are houses in Utica, NY so cheap?

Why are houses in Utica, New York so cheap? Hi all -
I've been looking on the internet at houses in Utica New York, and some of them are preposterously cheap. Does anyone have any idea why this is? Please don't sends answers such as "Utica sucks" etc. I've never been there and am genuinely curious. They're selling 4 bedroom houses for $60,000 and less. Is it built on a nuclear waste site? Are all the houses made of cardboard?

Where is Safe, Affordable Housing in Brooklyn?

I need to find an apartment in New York City, quickly, moving from Adams-Morgan in DC. I am looking to live in Brooklyn somewhere, maybe along the L train or the J/M/Z. Apart from Williamsburg hipster haven, can any of you recommend areas that are some combination of affordable and safe? I'd prefer to live alone, but will consider roommates, if that helps.

Any suggestions on apartment hunting in NYC in general are much appreciated as well.

What's life like for someone working in corporate real estate in new york city?

What's life like for someone working in corporate real estate in new york city? I am a New Yorker who has been working in corporate real estate consulting/analysis/inverstments in Europe for the past two years (think CB Richard Ellis, Knight Frank, Cushman & Wakefields, etc.)

I am looking to move back to NYC but want to know what the lifestyle, money and hours are like as I start interviewing. Part of the reason I came over here originally is that I was tired of working until 3 in the morning every night (I was a paralegal in a big law firm back then).
