Travelling to NYC area this summer with 3 people and small, well-behaved dog. Looking for boat tours that are pet-friendly. Hopefully something that goes around Manhattan, but any waterway in the area would be nice. Any ideas?

You've lived in New York/Brooklyn your whole life. You're moving to Southern California in three months. You have a lot of free time. (No car, but access to Zipcar.) You realize you won't be back in New York for a long time. You're making a list of everything you want to do before you go - places you want to visit, things you want to see, things you want to eat. What's on your list?

Moving to New York from Florida to take a job at the beginning of January, and i'm having some trouble finding a good place to live, mostly that I don't really know how to find good places that aren't on craigslist/padmapper. The friend i'm going to live with works in Greenpoint, so we're leaning heavily on that neighborhood, just off the Greenpoint or Nassau stops, so only one of us has to take the subway to work.

Asking for a friend: "Our flight leaves from JFK at 5:55 PM. We're currently in Northern New Jersey, near Morristown. My father has offered to drive us to the airport, but we're concerned about whether this will be physically/emotionally possible due to the marathon. Our plan was to head south and take the Verrazano Bridge. Will this take us around the road closures / traffic hell, or should we just take the train?"

I just got back from a 500 mile road trip on the New York Thruway. Spotted three cars with Hawaiian license plates. I have never seen
one before. Obviously, they didn't drive to the mainland. Two were older cars, mid-ninety's econoboxes, one a big SUV. About how much would it cost to ship a car from the islands, or did they just bring their plates and buy a car locally?

I want to rent an event space in NYC. Where do I start? It's basically a wedding reception without the wedding, I'd like it to hold about eighty people, with an open bar and using my own caterers. It should be three hours booked at least. I'd like it in Manhattan but totally open to nearer Brooklyn and Queens. What do I need to know and where should I go in getting a space for late October?

I am going to New York for 4-5 days towards the end of October and need cheap accommodations. A shared bathroom is no biggie but I am too old for anything that veers towards the hostel side of things. It needs to be in Manhattan. I am male by the way if that makes a difference. Thank you for any suggestions.

I've had a Canon 5D Mark II for about 2.5 years, and I've recently noticed some bad dust particle issues that are on the sensor or mirror, not the lens. Can someone recommend a good camera store in New York City that could do a good professional job of cleaning my sensor (and an idea of how much this will cost)? I've looked into cleaning kits, and I think I would rather have a professional do it. Thanks!

My father passed away in February, and left a very simple will - a 50/50 split between my sister and myself. His estate is very small, so we are trying to keep legal fees down as much as possible. The will and supporting documentation have been submitted to the NY probate court. One of the probate clerks is objecting to an irregularity in the self proving affidavit that's holding up the whole process. (The will itself seems to be sound.) Somehow this affidavit was screwed up by the notary.
