Had some bloodwork done a while back before starting treatment for anxiety and adhd, and was just looking at the results now. I don't know who looked at the results, but noone mentioned them at any later point and I assume they were just checking for thyroid and iron levels etc that can show as depression, lethargy, etc. Questions about the other results inside. Possible causes of my outbreak of aphthous ulcers

(standard YANMD) I've had on and off aphthous ulcers my entire life since I was very young, they are not something new to me. But for the past 2-3 months, I've had them continuously. As soon as one starts to fade, a new one shows up. This is new, and it's driving me insane. I cannot think of what's caused this change, and I'd appreciate help brainstorming what I could investigate. [more inside]

Are painkillers appropriate for stomach pains caused by gastroenteritis?

By a stroke of crappy (pun intended) luck, I'm suffering from gastroenteritis for the second time in under a year. I'm taking Vicodin to manage the pain of stomach cramps. I'm going into the second day of taking them and I'm wondering if there's a reason that I shouldn't, or if maybe I don't have gastroenteritis. Money is super tight, so I'm hoping to avoid the doctor. You are not my doctor. Please hit me up with anecdata.

On my right wrist and the back of the same hand, I have a patch of red inflamed skin roughly the same size as a round cotton wool pad. I woke up with it (about 16 hours ago). Earlier this evening I drew around it with a marker to see whether it would spread further, and I think it has a tiny bit. [more inside]

Help this hypochondriac prepare for doctor visit

Maybe more obsessive-over-thinker than hypochondriac. Woke up with an unexpectedly hoarse voice and bit of a sore throat. After eating today, I went to spit up some phlegm, and it *hurt*, and a fair amount of blood came up with the phlegm. All the non-gross stuff is behind the cut. [more inside]

Parotid gland weirdness

I've had what I thought was an enlarged lymph node in my neck for ~2 years, and am finally getting medical attention for it. So, I'm allergic to NM, will it be the same in WA?

My allergist says I'm allergic to a lot of stuff that grows around this area (like, highly allergic). The altitude isn't helping. I've had a chronic sinus infection since soon after I moved to NM, and no amount of medication has made it go away. It's been a two year battle and I really want to breathe normally again. Post-lithotripsy pain in the legs, several days after procedure?

Have you ever had a lithotripsy? I got one (torso) on Monday for kidney stones, and while things seemed fine for the 48 hours following the procedure, starting yesterday afternoon I've been experiencing intense, radiating pain in my upper legs and hips. Enough that I can't sleep, even with hydromorphone painkillers. I've left a detailed message at the urologist's, but while I wait to hear back, I'm wondering if this is something in the realm of "normal" or "super weird" or even "Emergency room stat". This is Quebec, so I'm not incredibly optimistic about the doctor getting back to me promptly, either. [more inside]

My very first food poisoning question

So, I ate some truly delicious Ethiopian food (lentils, cabbage and potato, collard greens, and okra, plus the bread) I got as takeout from a local place on Friday evening. About 8 hours later I awoke feeling dreadful. I threw up four times over the next 8 hours or so, and I am one of those people who virtually never vomits. I also felt really sick, with a major stomach ache. I have been feeling gradually better since, and am back at work today, but still feel trembly, nauseated and kinda green around the edges. And no bowel movements to date. When am I going to feel like myself again? Do I have to call my doctor?

YANMD but please help me identify this mark on my skin (Pics included)

I woke up with two marks on the inside on my arm three days ago, which I originally thought was a bruise. The marks haven't faded or changed colours, and now I am wondering if it's some kind of burn? They aren't raised at all. I don't remember hurting my arm (it doesn't hurt when I touch them) and I haven't changed my soap or anything. I do have eczema but my rash doesn't look anything like this. Here are a couple of photos - one, two. They are slightly browner than they appear.

Gave blood, have bruise, problem?

YANMD. Gave blood two weeks ago. Hurt more than usual on the stick (but not terribly). I've never had any issue at all before, but this time within a few days I had a pretty good bruise. For several days it was pretty tender. The tenderness has very very slowly reduced, but it's still a bit tender. And I have a bruise the length and half the width of my hand (purple, yellow, green). I don't think the bruise has gotten bigger since the first few days, but I don't think it's been getting smaller either and it doesn't really seem to be getting lighter, though it's hard to tell. 1. Is this a problem? 2. How long before I have a normal looking arm again? 3. Is there anything I should be doing?
