What does copywriting pay?
A computer consulting firm wants to hire me to write founder bios, customer service email templates, redo the copy on their website, etc. Also maybe some light technical writing.
As far as experience, I've done all that (unpaid) for a startup of my own, which was very successful. I'm also a very experienced popular writer (articles and books). But never did this sort of copywriting for pay. What's typical renumeration?

I've been out of work for a number of years, by choice, staying at home to raise my kids. I have a Bachelor's in Education with a minor in English from back in 19mumblemumbleyear, and even if it were up-to-date, my life has taken a different turn, and I don't feel that teaching is for me any more. With this kind of background, if I don't teach, I am pretty much, as one of my English teachers once put it, an "educated un-employable."
What further education do I need to be taken seriously as I re-enter the workforce? [more inside]

I just quit my job at BC Hansard, where part of my job duties included writing technical documentation. One of my major projects was a word processing manual for our editors (most of whom are not technically savvy), explaining the various in-house Word macros, general computer use and so forth. But Hansard refuses to give me a portfolio copy of my work; not because of any hard feelings, but because they just don't do this. [more inside]
