I may have jumped the gun a bit in promising a friend that they could attend a writing workshop group we are starting. How should I navigate the resulting trickiness without marring any relationships?

I'm looking for something in Los Angeles that is similar to the
Loft in Minneapolis - writing classes for all abilities and ambitions. I am not looking to write the next Pulp Fiction, only to have fun and actually write. I've found one potential place so far - this is a big city!! I must be missing something... right?

I'm starting to get a few requests for speaking engagements and seminars, and I'm not quite sure what to expect on the business side of things. At the moment, these are private individuals who have a little experience with event planning, and know that I could draw a decent audience to a workshop. I'm a little unsure about how profits should be split between me and the organizer. I don't have a problem with the organizer making some money, but I'm the one providing the content, and I want to be fairly compensated. How does this generally work?

I've sent so many resumes out by this time that the word resume has lost all meaning, and cover letter makes me sigh. Aggressive job hunting since July has turned up bupkiss.
I need money. I really do. Social services gives me enough to not starve and that's about it. Not being able to do much other than go to my job experience job and to the grocery store is sucking the life out of me. So I sat down and tried to come up with a way that I could make money and still look at myself in the mirror.
I want to do a Mixed-Media Art Workshop aimed at the art-curious, beginners, just liked art class in high school, and people looking to kill an hour without it being a dating set up.

I'm interested in checking out the local hackerspace -- partly out of interest in doing stuff there, partly because they do work that's similar to ours (they work with adults, we work with kids). Their pricing policy is very expensive and only seems to make a token effort to reach out to low-income people like myself. They've expressed interest in meeting and getting to know us -- I'm excited about this, but am also really personally affronted by their pricing scheme. How do I get over this so we can have a conversation?

I just realized that I have 7 vacation days from 2009 that I need to use before the end of March or I will lose them. I'm considering taking a "destination" photo class somewhere for all or part of that time. I've already checked out the offerings at the
Maine Media Workshop, but none of them really set my heart aflame.

What are the best exercises to improve photographic skills?
I am planning a series of workshops with both young and mature students who want to engage with photography. The workshops can be a preparation for studying photography at university or form a basis of a portfolio. Ultimately I am trying to encourage creative development and critical thinking about photography.

Can you think of any examples of "disjointed" writing -- writing with abrupt transitions -- that works? Faulkners Sound and Fury is a good example but shorter pieces are better for my purposes. Can be fiction or non-fiction.
