I want to maintain my weight, but continue to lower my body fat percentage. Should I lower caloric intake or just increase my exercise, or both?

What qualifications should I look for in a personal trainer? What do the
ACE certifications actually mean? I'd like to hire a trainer for a few sessions, but I really don't want to hurt myself or hire a nut. Please help me sort through the options!

Yesterday on "CBS Sunday Morning," a correspondent chronicled his attempt to lose weight. I'm trying to identify one of the machines that his personal trainer used to evaluate his progress.

What do you listen to when you work out? I have been jogging a lot, and I am pretty tired of my music.

Unti fairly recently I excercised fairly frequently. Due to having less and less free time, and more and more opportunities to do manual labor, I'm wondering how to estimate the amount of excercise I'm getting from various kinds of Hard Work.

What (preferably good) songs shift back and forth between fast and slow? I'm trying to put together an iPod playlist for a workout that goes back and forth between slow, steady jogging and spurts of sprinting. (Yeah, I know--I could just alternate slow songs and fast songs--but then the tempo would only shift every 3 minutes or so.) All genres are welcome, although I have a slight bias towards either jazz/swing or indie rock for this particular mix.

I'm overweight and I'm pretty damned tired of it (23 years old, about 260ish 6' tall). I've already started modifying my eating habits and now I'm looking for a workout solution. I'm a computer guy, so I spend a -lot- of time sitting during the day (usually night). I know a lot of you work out quite regularly and I would like to know if someone could come up with a basic workout regimen.
I live in an apartment complex with a decent gym. I just don't know what days I should walk how far and what machines I should do how many reps of what. Also, I'd like some suggestions as to where I should go after I've been doing this for a while if possible.
Apologies in advance if my search-fu is inferior.

I have a mountain bike on a resistance roller that I use to workout, and I also use a heart rate monitor to keep my heart rate at 145. If I workout in a cycling position with my hands on the handlebars, it takes much more effort to maintain 145 than if I sit upright with my hands by my side.
Why is this, and does this mean my upright workout is less effective than my bent over one, even though I'm maintaining the same heart rate?

So I go to the gym semi-regularly and use the Elliptical machine. It has some built-in routines. One is called "fat-burning" and one is called "Cardio Workout". The fat burning sets a target heart rate in the 120's (number made up) while the Cardio sets my target heart rate somewhat higher -- maybe the low 140's. My question is, which will actually burn more fat, the Fat Burn or the Cardio?

I want abs. I'm 5'8", 134lbs. I've never worked out and don't have time for a gym. Basically I'm looking for a good routine that I can do in, say, 15min a morning that will strengthen my abs and, if possible, give some visible definition. Right now I have a small belly. I've heard mixed things about crunches. Anyone have a good routine that meets my needs? I'd like to see results in a month or two.

I take Zoloft (50mg/day) and it's making me drowsy - I'm sleepy during the workday and ready to go to bed by 9:30. I already drink a moderate amount of caffinated beverages, and I work out three to four times a week. What can I do to combat the drowsiness?
