What am I supposed to do for work when my stress tolerance is so low?

The stress at my new-ish job is getting to me and I dread going into work. I can't sleep some nights because of it. It should not be a difficult job, but it is made difficult by how poorly run the place is, and a couple of really dramatic coworkers. I'm looking for a new job, but I'm in school, currently still grieving the loss of my brother and cycling through moods rapid fire. Any ideas of low stress jobs I could search for? [more inside]

I was just handed a HUGE negotiating chip. Help me cash it in.

I am on the verge of quitting my job over excessive work, low pay, etc. I just discovered that a project I alone have Implemented is bringing in a huge unexpected financial windfall for my company. Help me translate this into more sustainable working conditions, for I am a well meaning sucker who is bad at negotiating and business confrontation. Extended details inside. [more inside]

But, But, I Don't Wanna Work In Underland Full Time

I have worked for many years in a position that's located in the basement of a converted 1930's department store. I like my job and I am good at it, but I have always hated working in a cube farm with zero windows and zero cell service. To compensate for the drabness of the work environment, I have been able to telework two days per week, leaving me chained in a drab dungeon only three days per week. [more inside]

How do self-employed people manage sickness with their workload?

I've worked for myself (consultant; home office) for the last two years and I'm still trying to figure out how to deal with illness. If I don't work, I don't get paid, but if I don't take a break, I won't get better. I struggle to figure out what is "coddling myself" and what is restorative rest -- and how to ease back into the routine when I'm on the mend but not at 100%. If you're self-employed, what do you do when you're sick? [more inside]

Leaving a dream job for a better quality of life

About a year and a half ago, I was offered an absolute dream job opportunity with a company I obsess over. I feel like the things I am doing have the chance to change the world in at least a small way, and I am well respected and valued in my organization. I have direct access to VIPs that others would love the chance to have a single coffee with. But, it's incredibly stressful at times and has a poor work-life balance. Should I leave this job for an almost-as-cool job that might be better for my family? [more inside]

Help with Overscheduling, time management and taking on too much!

I don't need luck, man, because you're the one on the Titanic.

Until an hour into my shift today, I was a salaried manager at a big-box retailer. A year into the role, with a glowing evaluation two weeks behind me and a district-wide expectation of having my own store in four years, I walked in, did my job for an hour, snapped, threw all of my company-owned property down in the office, and left. My boss apparently wants me back. [more inside]
