Has anyone done freelance graphic design for American Eagle Outfitters?

Hey everyone! I've got a tough decision in front of me... I am lucky enough to be in a position where I have to choose between two job offers. One of these companies is American Eagle Outfitters and I would be working as a graphic designer in the corporate office in Pittsburgh. The other job is at yet another big PGH company, but for a slightly different position. I know people that work or have worked for the second company, so I've got the scoop on that option... However, I don't have any "inside info" on working for AE. Essentially, my position at AE is being called a "freelance" job, but I'd be working in the office 5 days a week with varying hours (and I'd be a W2 employee). That is a bit confusing to me, as (through personal experience) the words "freelance" and "W2" usually don't go hand-in-hand. ;) Anyway, sorry... rambling! Has anyone here "freelanced" for AE Corporate in the past and can give me some info on how it went/what it was like/etc.? I've got a big decision to make by end of day Monday!

I mean I'm not saying no, but...

Okay, hiring managers and HR folks of AskMe. Suppose your company has a job opening, and you've interviewed a candidate. Things went pretty well, and you want to make that candidate an offer. You have your recruiter call and ask him for his salary requirements, and he gives you a number. What are some reasons why you might then come back and make an offer that is $10,000 more than what he was asking for?

After several years of unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant, my husband I were approved for IVF treatment (through NHS, we are in the UK). Career question: how to transition out of nonprofit track?

I have worked for the federal government for five years (2 on Capitol Hill and 3 in SLC) and also for a well respected local nonprofit here in Salt Lake City, UT for the past two years. I'm Associate Director and things are good. However, unless I become Exec. Director there isn't much upward mobility. Plus, I wrote another question earlier this year about avoiding burnout, which is a problem with nonprofits, long hours, small staffs, etc. What I'm saying is I can't see working in the nonprofit world long term. I don't really see myself transferring to another nonprofit in town either. [more inside]

How best to manage this work problem

For several years Small Company has been undergoing large turnover in employees, to the point that there are now a number of critical vacancies. I am a Widget Controller at SC. Because of the vacancies, I was told to also become a Cog Controller. They're not similar jobs even though they have a similar title and the career path is different. I am not paid extra for the additional role (I haven't asked). There is no overtime. Is a position change like this normal? Is it possible to escalate to HR as this isn't the job I was hired to do? I don't like being a Cog Controller.
