How to catch hold of a disorganised boss to resign?

I've gotten a job offer I'm happy with. My boss is the distracted, goalpost-is-always-moving kind of guy. As in, his schedule changes day to day, always last minute, even up to the hour before. How is the best way to catch him to advise of my resignation? [more inside]

Anything to be done? Great job but supervisor doesn't like me.

The very good news: A couple months ago I started a new job that I love. It's a high stress career, but basically my dream job. I get along well with almost all of my colleagues, including my peers, the big boss (person in charge of the organization), and big boss's second in command. [more inside]

How Do I Leave a Job Without Quite Leaving Yet?

I have a new temp-to-perm position, but my boss is a total nightmare! I called the agency that employs me and told them I want to quietly, slowly look at other options. Apparently, this triggers some automatic process wherein the agency calls the hiring director at my job and tells her I'll be leaving and that the company can keep me on as a temp worker until they hire someone new or that they can terminate my contract immediately. This is happening more quickly than I expected! How do I slow it down? [more inside]

New boss wants to hire his unqualified friend. What to do?

The company I work for has a new owner. He wants to hire a friend to do part of my job, a part I don't want to give up. This friend is grossly unqualified and downright mean, but the owner is head over heels. Help me figure out what to do. (I don't want to do the job of two people. I'm already extremely overworked. I am aware that life is unfair.) Bunches of snowflakes inside. [more inside]

But you never asked!

I've had a consistent problem in my work life recently, and I'd love some advice. Since I've had so much trouble getting work, I defaulted to Executive Assistant positions. I figured this was in line with my personality, since I'm fairly thick-skinned and cheerful, and I'm pretty organized. The only problem is that I keep getting temp-to-perm positions where the C-level exec I assist accuses me of forgetting to do things he never asked me to do! [more inside]

How do I prepare myself to resolve this toxic situation with my boss?

My boss and I got along fairly well before I got promoted to a full-time position. She was clear about priorities but fairly hands-off, which I liked, and open to questions (of which I had many, since I'm just starting out). At the time of the promotion, I was given many, many additional responsibilities and started to run into a micromanaging side of her I hadn't seen before. And a weird, contradictory expectation. If I asked her things, she started to tell me to figure them out myself. She wanted me to take initiative. Great, I thought. I'm fine with that. Except that when I started taking initiative, she was then critical if I didn't do things in exactly the way she would have done them.... [more inside]
