I want to set up a non-monetary credit system using Wordpress, and probably WooCommerce, that will allow registered visitors to use credits to redeem for certain perks (probably listed as products). [more inside]
I delivered a website to client which included a WordPress blog. In development, I had permalinks set to show the category and post name in the path. Now the client has it installed on their staging server and the same permalink settings are delivering 404s. [more inside]
I'm writing about feminism and gaming on the internet. I'm a woman. I know that if I gain any reasonable amount of success, it'll probably come with death threats and hacking attempts and doxxing and the like. What should I do now, while very few people are reading me, to protect myself? [more inside]
A friend is looking for a multimedia system that allows categorization, tagging, rating of audio/video materials, and is ideally capable of being integrated into Wordpress....think StoryCorps with the addition of video and photo. [more inside]

I work in a medical clinic with a few other doctors, and we're trying to come up with a way to centralize our "favourites" when it comes to referrals -- which specialists do we usually refer to, where can patients go for physiotherapy, etc. I'm trying to find a simple way to implement this but so far not having a lot of success. Our business needs a new webpage, and we're thinking of going with Wordpress. The problem is finding a nice theme that meets our requirements. [more inside]
I'm looking for a very professional-looking Wordpress theme with parallax scrolling. Preferably horizontal, wouldn't mind if it were standard vertical. Something clean, simple and modern. The less glitches/bugs, the better.
The owner (Mr Firstname Lastname) of a website I manage (firstnamelastname.com) notified me of a plugin issue that was visible to users on the front page of his site. So I went to try to login to admin. Oh no! WSOD! No login option! So I googled... [more inside]
I work for a small non-profit organisation. Our move from a hand-coded website to a WordPress-based system has stalled, and the company who were doing the work are no longer formally involved. Help me to understand who I'd need to engage to get the work finished. [more inside]

I am looking to get a wordpress theme with built-in icons for post types (such as sorbet, but I'm open to using another one to make this easier) to use icons based on categories or tags instead. There is a plugin for this but it doesn't work with the current version of WP and I don't think it's set up to replace part of an existing theme anyway. (It would also be nice if I could customize the color on those bar things too.) Despite my ambitions for awesome blog layout customization, I know very little about CSS and basically haven't coded anything for the web since we all used Netscape Navigator. How do I do this?
So I have a little website for my business. I made it using WordPress 3.3.1 and Thesis 1.8. Got hacked and website is ready for a refresh. I am ready to move to Wordpress 4 and thesis 2.1. Some complications inside. Help? [more inside]

I'm putting a small (about 120 items) museum/library image collection online. My organization is using WordPress to create a simple website for this collection, and I need help finding the best gallery/portfolio plugin to display these images. What's your favorite WordPress plugin for this, and why? [more inside]
I started a Wordpress blog a few years ago and then ignored it soon after. This time around I'd really like to create the best Wordpress site that I possibly can. I'm looking for any resources that would help to achieve that goal -- themes, tutorials, podcasts, etc. I'd also like to learn more about search engine optimization and monetization in regards to a Wordpress site. Suggestions? [more inside]
I'm working on making a magazine blog. I started with a template that is pretty awesome, but I liked the effect another theme used to manage the photo and video gallery. Is there a plugin I can install to achieve this effect or is this hard coded into the template. [more inside]

There's a municipal election coming up, and a friend of mine is hoping to develop a Web site that allows users to cycle through key questions (e.g. "Do you think the city should allow a casino to be built downtown?" "Do you support the closure of the Simpson History Museum?") and see the positions of various candidates, grouped by electoral district. Can you think of a Web site that does such a thing? Bonus points if it's created by a group that might be willing to share their infrastructure. [more inside]
I'm looking for a photoslider script that let's you manually slide between two overlaid images, for the purpose of displaying the differences between said images. Anything similar to the slider being used in this buzzfeed article. [more inside]
I'm using Wordpress to design my site (photography portfolio). Image quality is very important to me, but I'm also concerned about page-loading times. Galleries will be on one page, and you'll scroll down to view images. I prefer this layout to flash galleries. Some questions about this.... [more inside]
I'm trying to help my team establish an automated workflow for managing WordPress sites (themes, plugins, databases, the whole shebang). This is going to be a long journey and I need advice on what tools will give us the easiest entry point to a long-term solution. Capistrano? Grunt? Other? Lots of special details inside. I'm trying to set up a relatively easy to use eShop on my wordpress website. The tricky part is that my products are pretty complex. I have basically two things I offer: an app and a PDF, and each of those come in 28 possible variations. (They're language learning tools, so the particular app/PDF each person needs depends on which language they're learning and which language they speak natively). The OTHER tricky part is that the products aren't all ready yet, but due to the demand for pre-orders, I need to allow for preorders, as well, and then transition the products one-by-one to automatic downloads as I finish them. Any suggestions? I'm happy to pay for a solution, as long as it does its job well.
The nonprofit I work for is undergoing major growing pains and needs donor management and member management software. CiviCRM has been suggested to us, but I have questions which have to be answered in order for me to know whether it's a solution we can use, how to price the install/hire someone to do the install and explain to my boss and my board how this works and why we should do this. I'm in the process of cleaning up a hacked Wordpress install. How can I use the file list from a known-good directory as the basis for deleting all other files in the hacked one? e.g.: If a file exists in .../goodtheme/ leave it in .../badtheme. Otherwise, delete everything. [more inside]
I am tasked with updating a WordPress site for my research facility. I need to add two features, an image gallery and an event ticker or news feed. Free plugins are greatly preferred, since the mechanics of payment for this sort of thing are a giant pain in the patookus. I am not terribly experienced with WordPress, but have spent a decent amount of time elbow deep in the site and have an idea of how most of it works. [more inside]
I am planning a new website for my business. My web designer of many years does really stellar sites which Google seems to love. However, some of the Wordpress templates out there at the moment are superlatively great. The site is going to be purely a brochure / information website. So some advice please. Are custom-built websites old hat for the purposes of a brochure site or do hand-crafted websites (right-term?) still hold a lot of merit? (PS: the cost is not important. I am quite willing to pay the same for both types of architecture)
I have a blog running WordPress with the Thesis theme, and the AddThis plugin. It currently shows AddThis buttons at both the top of a post and the bottom of a post (like this). All I want are the buttons at the top, as they appear now. How do I get rid of the buttons at the bottom?
I am looking for a user-friendly theme with an easy-to-set-up CMS as well as secure hosting for a weekly webcomic. Any suggestions? [more inside]
I've long been an admirer of linkblogs like John Gruber's Daring Fireball and Dave Winer's Scripting News. I would like to start one on my own. What's the best way to go about doing this? [more inside]
So I've Googled and checked out the WordPress support forums about this, but I'm not finding what I want. Is there any plugin that allows WordPress to have a function like Track Changes in Word? I'm talking about within a post -- so if I made edits (punctuation, changing words, whatever) in a certain post, someone else could see them and also accept or reject them. Just viewing the "Revisions" in WP isn't cutting it.
I've installed a new theme on two sites, followed the same instructions for both, but on one the Revolution Slider doesn't seem to be working properly. On my beta site, the text on the slider looks nice and pretty, flying in and properly sized. On the alpha site, the text isn't looking right at all. Any Wordpress/coding heads have any ideas why this is happening? [more inside]
I want to put up a wordpress site for a virtual gallery of some of my photos. I'd really like to have something that looks clean & elegant enough to send out to potential clients/magazines. ie. Not so much something that signals, "family summer trip... woohoo" but really something that signals "artist-doing-arty-things." (What I am putting on this wordpress site will be a specific photo story though, and not all of my work-- ie. this site will have a really narrow focus). I've looked at woothemes, and really didn't see anything that had the look I am striving for. (It's that classic problem: I don't know what I want, but I'll know it when I see it.") Can the hive mind point me to other places (like WooThemes) where I can find and buy beautiful wordpress themes (tight budget alert!) and/or specific themes-for-sale that would be great for an aspiring photographer with a story to tell. Thanks!
I maintain for my company a spreadsheet that contains a list of vendors and their associated information: address, contact(s), service area(s), service(s), website, and so on. It's becoming rather unwieldy as a vendor might have up to 5 different services, 2 addresses, 3 contacts each with their own email and phone number, etc. The information's all there, it's just very annoying to use. I had the idea of creating an "intranet" type website that staff could use to filter vendors by name, service area, service type, and so on, with the results displaying in an easy-to-read format (easier than a mile-long Excel sheet, anyway). I am open to solutions like Wordpress and Joomla, just not sure how best to implement. Any ideas? [more inside]

I've just installed wordpress and the theme I'm using won't display the checkbox buttons on the web form I've created. It has to do with the theme I've chosen because the buttons show up fine with other themes... any idea what the problem could be? Page in question is here. All of the list items should have a checkbox button beside them. The theme's name is Hemingway.

I have my own Wordpress blog (hosted on Dreamhost) that's been driving me nuts. Intermittently I get a 404 error when posting or when moving through the admin pages. Simply reloading usually brings up the page. My Wordpress is up to date and so are my plugins. Besides the usual "disable all plugins and re-enable one-by-one" what other debug can I do? I am having a problem with my website, which is entirely run in Wordpress. I have WP set up to use a static home page. I followed the directions for creating a homepage and a page for posts to appear on. But if you look at the fluid page in question, for some reason the entire page is duplicated? I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on there, I hope someone here can.
On a WordPress site I'd like to add a simple, two-overlapping-circle Venn diagram -- though I'd like the text within to be various links. How would you recommend best implementing this (with a basic to intermediate understanding of HTML and CSS)?
Web developers: My university research lab wants to drag our website out of 1998 to a more easy-to-maintain and attractive design. We're tending towards using Wordpress, mostly for its large install base and plugin market. However our website won't follow the typical blog page/post format that Wordpress seems to support by default - it's more like a library with inter-related content types. Something like this is beautiful but probably out of our budget. Those with Wordpress experience, what default features should we try to use? Or is there a plugin / theme that does what we want already? [more inside]
