Is there a quick (or a quicker) way to download all files of a given type from the Media Library of a self-hosted WordPress site? The site in question has about 200 MP3s. I can easily sort out the MP3s by selecting "Audio." But how can I download them all at once? Is there a plug-in? FTP looks like a big pain, too, as these files are organized in folders by year and month, and there are several years here -- and many months with no uploads at all.

I'm considering writing a technical book, mostly a labour of love. I want to do the writing process online, like Bruce Eckel did for his excellent
Thinking in Java years ago. In order to facilitate user feedback, Eckel had a very fine-grained commenting system, which he developed himself and called TalkBack. At the end of each paragraph there was a "comment" link that let users comment on that particular paragraph. Are there any other CMS that offers fine-grained feedback like that? I'm aware of an older (2003-2004?) Zope TalkBack implementation, but would like something more current. And if you think I'm looking for the wrong thing and should go about writing a book on the web differently, please chime in!

I have an old WordPress 1.5.2 installation. I'd like to either export the posts to a new domain/fresh install or upgrade the current install. I have a self-hosted WordPress blog in which every post is an image (with alt-text) and a single comment. I'd like to move this material over to a Tumblr blog. The site has two years' worth of material, with about three posts per week.
I've done a Google search and it seems there are three methods for migrating WordPress content to Tumblr. All involve exporting the WordPress Blog to XML first, which I've done.

I'm in the process of transferring my Wordpress blog to a new host. So far everything is working just fine, except the media library.
I copied /wp-content/uploads/* onto the new system. I see the folders and files on the new server via SFTP, but WP doesn't seem to notice them. Is there some sort of "cache refresh" trick? Do I actually have to manually go in and load all the individual images from the past year via the UI?

I'm a graphic designer who does a bit of freelance web stuff, but I’m by no means a web developer. I’ve recently started building teensy (a few pages, a blog, a basic paypal shopping cart plugin) Wordpress sites with customized themes for some tech averse self-employed/freelancer friends. I have someone who wants a very specific look for a site but is on a budget, and before I get the design sliced and coded, I thought I'd check to see if anyone has seen a template that matches. We need to be able to pick all colors (background, sheet, etc), the sheet needs to have a shadow around it, and the sheet also needs to have deckle edges. The rest of the layout is pretty standard. Paid template is fine. Or, does anyone have recommendations for forums for theme recommendations?
